I see. Caught with your pants down and you cannot admit it. Keep twisting and it might go away eventually.
God bless you, Moen. You DO come up with some of the wackiest stuff. It's entertaining, I'll give you that. Beyond the entertainment value... meh ...
Don't see it? I'm talking about two groups of religious people who believe their beliefs should be the rule in their countries. You yourself said that this is a country that is based on christian principles right? That suggests to me that you believe our laws should favor christian beliefs over any other, that christian principles be the basis for our laws. That is, effectively, forcing christian beliefs on others. Mind you, I believe that's been happening anyway ever since the country was founded, especially in small localized areas throughout the nation, but my point is that I shouldn't be forced to follow christian laws anymore than you should be forced to follow sharia law.
I really do not have much faith when it comes to any religion, but if Tebow wins the Super Bowl with the Jets then I just might be saved. As a fan anyway. For those who do, Have a Happy Holy Easter
I don't get the hype around Tebow, he doesn't seem especially talented. The only thing I can think of is his religious beliefs, the taking a knee to pray thing, making him popular with the religious crowds. Otherwise, he's second-rate... at best.
My take on this abysmal thread is how arrogant, elitist, self-aggrandizing can someone actually be? The fact that we all grew up with the holiday seasons such as Easter and Christmas our whole lives and now some fundamentalist douche nozzles think that they have the right to call anyone hypocrites for not believing as they do is the absolute apex of arrogant elitism. All this at time of the year when "Christians" are supposed to be all about love and goodwill towards their fellow man. The more extreme these freaks get, the more Americans run from their message. Every poll indicates that people in this country are less and less religious and people like the poster of this thread are exactly why. We actually do reap what we sew.
Condescending posts like these just tell me that your smugness is covering up some pretty severe character issues. Good luck with those.
I grew up with the impression that people wanted me to believe in jesus christ, but thankfully they limited the most intense prodding to times like christmas and easter. Although I was never converted, I did make an attempt to understand why they were so insistant, by attending sunday school via the local salvation army around the age of 8 or 9. Now, since I am not actually prone to automatically believing everything told to me in sunday school (or elsewhere), it may have been an exercise in futility, but it was a sincere attempt to understand the religion. The salvation army had a program where they picked up poor kids and had them read along with them from the bible. While I undertood the words and the meanings that were written, I never came to believe automatically in the religion. When the collection plate came around I gave the money I was told to give ...for a while... until one day I didn't, and gave the money back to my mom. She said she wanted them to have it, I said she could give it to them if she wanted to, or that I would on her behalf... but that I wouldn't for myself and didn't want to go anymore. She asked why and I told her that religion wasn't for me lol Being in sunday school for me was about reading a book that you were supposed to automatically believe was true, and that isn't in my nature. I ask questions, all the time. The schools answers to questions was "Believe!" or "It's a matter of belief." ...Fair enough, believe or don't. I made my choice. At least she gave me the choice without a fuss, unlike a lot of families in America, that shove it down their kids throats. I'm grateful for that, 'cause any attempt at forcing me to believe in religion wouldn't have convinced me to believe in religion, and I would have hated my mom for even trying lol As always, christmas brings a tree and presents, easter brings candies and chocolate, but that doesn't mean I automatically believe in them. It's not gospel to me, but they are still valued days to be with the family. Is that so bad?
I don't know if this is a reference to me or not but let me tell you about character issues, fella. When i came here I was all idealistic and ready for discussion and had a really sweet avatar of a cat gazing at a goldfish in a bowl. Not more than a few days had passed before my avatar was branded as being too faggy. I should have stuck with it because it was an accurate reflection of me, but since I didn't want to have my posts dominated by a faggy avatar I went quasi butch manga and that seemed to work. There was a brief period where I was flying the red flag. The reaction was gratifying but ultimately I felt that raising "the scarlet banner high" was more of a distraction than it was worth. I'd already said I was a Social Democrat anyway. FWIW my current avatar is a photo of my namesake. In contrast to what was said about my avatar I got favorable comments from the RW contingent because I wrote stuff critical of Obama. They loved that and they still lap it up. But I noticed that the Right seemed reluctant to similarly criticize anyone or anything they saw as being on their side of the fence. In fact, I found no self-criticism at all. Only knee jerk defense of the party line. I know as much about the authoritarian mindset (it's the same, Right and Left) as anyone and probably more than most people and this was a warning sign and one of the traits I was hopping not to see here. I also noticed the unapologetic use of Bagger imagery in posts and avatars, something that seems to have increased over the months. Then there is the insistance that Obama is variously a Socialist, a Communist, a Fascist, a Radical Muslim, a Radical Christian, and a Racist among other things. Pretty remarkable combination of beliefs to find in one man. And of course there is the assertion that the Democratic faction of the National Corporatist Party was itself Socialist even though I have shown that it is no more Socialist than Nixon or Eisenhower or the mainstream Republicans of decades past. And finally, from the example set by our proprietor, I've found it is apparently okay to make racist comments as long as you are only joking around and that using derogatory names for the Democratic faction is de rigueur. So I while back I asked myself where I should go with all this. And the answer I gave myself was that I should remember that this place is just a diversion and I should deal with it on its own terms, try to have some fun, and treat the inmates on the Right with the level of respect that they deserve. I don't think I'm alone in this, but I take sole responsibility for the deplorable lack of character that it reveals.
The hypocrisy of quote unquote Christians is that they only start faking "Christian" behaviors once you remind them that they are supposed to be Christians. Starting threads like this one attacking non-Christians pretty much defines who you phony Chritians are from the git-go. Pretending to talk the talk at this point is really pretty unconvincing. Sorry, you are who you are.
Calling people of your ilk on their hypocrisy is an attack? I'm sorry if the truth hurts but it really wasn't intended to be attack, more of an observation. Now, what about your statement that you were required to take Good Friday off? How'd that go again? Are the lies getting too hard to keep up with?
My dad was a true Christian. A Swedish Luthern and also a fan of Billy Graham for awhile anyway. True Christians are the nicest people one can ever meet. Anyone who doubts the christian faith shouldn't read the bible or watch the news, just listen and watch a Tim Tebow or go to a Quaker Meeting. Different dominations are my examples but really the same thing. Wonderful.
It says "Lutheran" on my dad's dog tags. While I don't really care for Superman, I also don't really feel the need to destroy him. That said, if he wants to start a fight, if he tries to make me do things I don't wanna do, or makes it impossible for me to live my life without constantly having to fight his bs attacks on me, then I will do everything in my power to bury him.
Only good Christians should be entitled to any Holiday pay for a day like December 25th. If that were the case and one could actually define a "Good Christian" I would surmise that employers would save a lot of money. Let's have a look at the five people I work with shall we? Let's start with my boss. He's supposedly Methodist. I've worked for him for just over 4 years. I know he's never gone to church in that time. I'll guarantee he's not sitting at home reading the Holy Bible. His Pastor is one of our customers. Just over three years ago my boss' wife had a stroke. She's been in a nursing home ever since. When the Pastor came in he was doing the "oh it's so horrible (and I'm sure it was) routine and crying. But he never went to church. After a bit over a year he found himself a girlfriend. To me this is cheating and not very Christian. He's also racist as hell. There are no blacks to him, they're all niggers (but their money is good). A staunch Republican that calls himself a Christian. I disagree. Next is the lady that works Mondays and Tuesdays. Nice lady and I like her. Yet another racist though. All blacks are niggers. Again she does not attend church but once did. On several occasions I have heard her tell people "as long as you're a good Christian". Pattern here? It's OK to hate niggers as long as you're a Christian? Sorry but I don't declare myself a Christian but in my eyes I'm not working with any to this point. Hypocrites? Yes. Then there is our other Methodist. He works five days a week as do I. He doesn't go to church either but I'll give him credit for this he is not a fan of the Christmas and Easter worshippers that show up twice a year. Guess what. He's racist as hell too. Next is the lady that works Thursdays and Fridays. Goes to church every Sunday following her Catholic faith. Blacks are not niggers they are colored (comes from her upbringing). Drives me up a wall sometimes but she has the faith. Good for her. I reckon she IS a Christian. Finally is the lady that works Saturdays. I have no real clue what her religious beliefs are but do know this. She had some rough times growing up. If she were walking down the street and someone asked her for a dollar to buy some food she'd hand it over. She's been there. She probably gets scammed but doesn't have the heart (or lack thereof) to deny someone help on a chance encounter. In MY eyes that would describe a good Christian. Personally I don't describe myself as a Christian. I just try to treat people how I would like to be treated. I don't care about your religion OR your race if you treat me the same way. So basically I work with five "Christians" and three don't make the cut to me. I suppose I would be number 4. We do close on Christmas day where I work. I don't get paid for it. None of us do we just take the day off. I don't whine about it as the boss does generally hand out a bonus but that's HIS decision. If I don't get one oh well I got the day off.
