So what put you out? Nothin' bad I hope. I took two weeks off myself. Self-imposed "vacation". You missed it. :D

The arrests and law suits I am calling for are the direct result their actions either on their twitters or full video of their threats. This day of electronic recordings can and has been be easily verified. If you can get me some recordings of Martin/Zimmerman, I will quickly agree with what is shown. But then you are espousing all your views by admittedly not listening to any of the news. How interesting. We are wrong and you are right even if you don't know what you are talking about.

BTW, the police recording was not by the lame street media, but by the local station.

You really need to listen to that video before you decide what it says. 240 or 250 is not in the realm.

2 weeks of it was vacation...we went diving & golfing in the Caribbean then spent a week in DC. It hasn't been so pleasant since then. I developed a hernia working at the farm, went to the ER & found my blood sugar was 480. As it turns out I have been diagnosed with diabetes.
I encourage everyone to have their sugar levels checked. If I can develop diabetes, anyone can. I'm 44, 6 ft tall, 180 lbs. I run 5 miles 3-4 times a week, workout, play golf & basketball. I eat right, no family history & I don't drink or smoke but now I get to inject myself with insulin for the rest of my life & prick my finger several times a day.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Believe me, I have been tested for more things than you can think of in the past 3 years. Problem is, I have had too many of them. So far I have survived them. My wife discovered she had diabetes several years ago, but hers is well controlled by metformin - especially since she managed to lose a bunch of weight.

I've been laid up & have watched the coverage of this story probably more than anyone here (and I've watched every news outlets reporting).
Here's how I think it happened:
Zimmerman saw this kid walking through the neighborhood & started watching him. He knew the kid didn't live there so he decided to approach him and call 911. When Martin realized he was being watched he hid, Zimmerman lost sight of him at the same time the 911 operator told him he didn't need to approach Martin so he headed back to his vehicle. This is when Martin approached Zimmerman & a scuffle started. Based on eyewitness testimony, Martin was getting the better of Zimmerman and that is when Zimmerman shot him.
The whole incident is unfortunate & there is blame on both parties. I believe it got to the point Zimmerman had to defend himself but I also believe his actions set the ball in motion. I do think Zimmerman profiled Martin to a degree but I believe he also knew Martin didn't live in the neighborhood so he questioned Martin's reason for being there in the first place.

Thanks. It just caught me off guard, given my lifestyle, plus the condition being so advanced. The diet & excercise won't be a problem, it's just the other crap that goes along with it. I'm taking the metformin in addition to 2-3 injections per day.

From the sounds of it, you have had this for a while. My (far from expert) familiarity with it says you don't get that high over night. I have been getting blood test twice annually for as long as I can remember - high cholesterol.

Whoa-aa-aa! Back it up! I don't wanna hear you talking about touching anything!!!

But it is sincere... that if you had health issues, that sucks. At least you can see if it can be resolved or not. Must be nice.

You Republicans and your misconceptions... of course I've seen some of the coverage, but what I said is you appear to be watching more of it than I am.

I did however track down the police report and a few other pieces of info I was interested in. The one I consider most damaging is Zimmerman's 911 call. At one point he tells the dispatcher that the suspect is running and the (911 operator) soon asks if he is following the suspect. Zimmerman apparently says "Yes," and the (911 operator) responded "...we don't need you to do that."

Not quite an order there, but if true this means there is direct evidence from Zimmerman himself that he was pursuing Martin (the 17 year old shot in the chest), and not "standing his ground".

Another interesting tidbit, unverified at the moment, but interesting: Martin apparently had made a call to his girlfriend, and that call ended at 7:16. Police were on the scene at 7:17.

    And after that;

Humm? I wonder what "he ran" would imply? My reading would be that he is no longer there. But that does not fit your scenario so apparently I am wrong?

At this stage, there is so much baloney out there and nearly all of it is contaminated (i.e.contains as facts things proven to be false such as the NBC version of the 911 call), I no longer can believe anything I read. The local, state, and federal investigations will figure it out I am confident.

I was using numbers posted by members on this forum, but ...and excuse the pun... I don't necessarily give those numbers any substantial weight anyway.

I'm still not certain how many shots were fired. I do know Zimmerman pursued Martin, he said so himself, and there is direct evidence of that, and apparently was returning to his vehicle when the confrontaion occurred. According to him anyway. What is it they say? Something about the winners writing the history books?

Yikes! At least it didn't happen during the vacation! A small blessing yes, but one nevertheless.

My dad died after a hernia operation by not following the docs instructions. He was apparently told to make sure he moved around, walked a bit, but didn't. A blood clot formed and it lodged in his heart. 37 years old at the time. So follow the docs instructions!

As for diabetes, my doc is like a vulture about it... hovering over me waiting to tell me I have it. So far so good lol

I'm not far off from your view myself at this point.

Zimmerman's major mistake was to follow the kid, instinct or anger (past burglaries in the area and the perps being released) made him jump out and try to find Martin. But to me the first mistake was bringing the gun. I don't personally have a problem with people carrying concealed weapons, but if Zimmerman intended to locate the kid, his gun needed to be more on his mind. He apparently allowed Martin to get close enough to him where the threat of that gun being taken away was a real possibility... and that to me means Zimmerman let down his guard when he shouldn't have, or at least wasn't paying enough attention to his surroundings. If he intended to follow the kid, especially into a less well-lit area, his gun should have been at the ready or drawn already... and that may be a factor that mattered here, at least to me anyway.

From what I've read, the spot where Martin died is relatively well lit and is easily visible from more than a dozen homes, but it was dark out and raining apparently... making it more difficult to see or hear someone who may be approaching you. That could be a factor here too.

If I was the person who gave the concealed weapon permit to Zimmerman, I'd see if I could revoke it. At the very least he is irresponsible with a weapon.

Not at all, but if Zimmerman is charged, it isn't going to look good for his defense... not to a jury anyway. Running after someone, then turning your back on him, then being confronted by the person may or may not be judged as "stand your ground" by a jury. I'm saying the initial pursuit may be what sticks in the jury's minds, and that detail may be enough for them to decide Zimmerman is guilty.

Yep. Like this supposed call. I haven't verified it, and I have also seen an online headline that asked if Martin was calling 911 at the time of his death. I take it with loads of salt until I find credible sources, and at the momment I consider it "not likely", but it would be interesting if true. I'd expect his girlfriend to have mentioned it at some point though lol
