In tom's defense, you'd have to be somewhat perverted yourself, maybe somewhere deep, deep, deeeeeep in you mind, to think of tom's comment that way. Personally I believe he's saying that the law runs counter to the Republicans belllowww for less government.

You can perceive that and he can't? LOL I thought the point was obvious. You're exactly right. The right pretends to want Government out of everybody's lives (except when it serves their agenda...be it abortion, taxes, whatever).

 

Actually, the Right will never do anything to actually end abortion in this country. If they actually did, they know that they would have nothing to whip up the ideologues with and the ideologues would finally figure out that they are being screwed.
Proof of this is readily available. How many abortion bills were put through during the 6 years the Cons had the White House, the Senate, and the U.S House of Reps? They could have done plenty but chose to do virtually nothing about abortion other than symbolic legislation. Now that they are out of power, abortion is their big rallying cry to whip up those ideologues that think that the Cons will actually do something about abortion. P.T. Barnum couldn't have been more correct.

 

It's all about catering to the hard right wing base (aka...the religious right). They're desperate for votes.
