Spend hundreds of billions fighting arab battles and now can not afford our own army.

I'm sorry I don't quite agree with your sentiment here HM.

I respect those that join the military believe me but to many it is a "job" when they can't find one. I also have a good friend that was an Army recruiter and not just anyone can join the Army these days.
Bottom line is you just can't "sign up" these days.

You need qualifications and have to meet requirements. Then you get in and then you work your way up. Sounds like any other job at this point.

No different than a job working for a major corporation. Supply and demand.

We're all "soldiers". When we get fired it's no different. We and our families no longer have jobs.

Re-read my posts, please? That's what I've been saying all along. I never made any distinction between military jobs and any other jobs. I just think it's appalling that anyone can say that the lost of 80,000 jobs is pretty much nothing. I wonder how that falls on the "jobs created or saved" index?

In any case, I don't see how anyone can say that our military is suffering from lack of demand. What I do see is a bunch of politicians in a bloated government who should slash their own salaries before worrying about cutting anyone else's jobs.

Great point. It is a shame that the military is misused and then abused. Their are many discussions that can be held on why having a large standing army is a great thing.

Please refer to this website. Seems like we are mispending our money and weakening our nation in so many ways. Cutting troops and going after teachers is a sad joke.

I stand corrected HM as I did go back and read your other posts.

I'd love to see a "lack of demand" occur actually but certainly not because I want military folks to lose jobs.

Politicians slashing their own salaries? I would SO LOVE to see that happen.

    We can dream can't we?

    IQless1 trump supporters are scum

Why stop there? Why not create a new policy that has the armed forces outsourced ...have illegal immigrants as our soldiers... at a severely reduced wage of course. I know a few currently serve as a means to become American, but think of the savings if that was done on a mass-scale!

We'd have the cleanest military bases in the World, and the lawns in front of the barracks would be insane!

I actually have a friend who was born in Mexico and became an American Citizen by joining the military. Ended up flying jets off an aircraft carrier. If you go in his house you will see displays of Mexican pride but you would have to pass the American flag display first. Shame most immigrants I have come across in FLA from that same county do not feel the same. Alot of give me, give me, give me attitude and Mexico is great and USA sucks. Biggest difference, one came here for the freedoms whereas the others came for the benifits.

I worked with a number of people throughout the years (from Mexico, Panama, Philippines, and Jamaica specifically) who became citizens by military service. I think it is a great program.
