If You Ever Run for POTUS, Don’t Let God Talk You Into It!

Having God talk you into running for POTUS seems to the one endorsement that is certain to doom your chances of ever being elected. Pat Robertson was told by God to run for POTUS. Michele Bachmann was told by God to run for POTUS. Rick Perry was told by God to run for POTUS. Herman Cain was told by God to run for POTUS. Do you think God has a really morbid sense of humor or is it just that God didn’t tell any of these people to actually win? :D

It could be that He is testing them, perhaps. Who can really say?

Could be worse, Satan told me to run might not get the voters on your side.

Apparently, God or Satan have about the same pull with the voters. :D

I'll believe that when an openly satanist President is elected. Hell one who had the guts to admit to being an atheist would be a start.

God told me to run but I told Him I wasn't interested and that He ought to mind His own business.

God, he certainly is an interesting character. He'll tell you to run for president, forgive you for molesting little boys, excuse any behavior your willing to go on TV and weep about and pretty much lend himself to any Right-wing talking point you can conger up. But if truth be told, God has a few issues himself.
    A. He is an adulterer. (He did conceive a child with another man's wife after all.)
    B. He is an absent deadbeat dad. (Let's not forget that he did forsake his only son.)
    C. He is not married and lives alone so it is entirely possible that he is gay. (Love thy neighbor.)
    D. He has an ego and is insecure. (He requires praise constantly.)

If God came to you and told you to be an atheist, would you?

Well in a way He has. He is too absurd to be believable.

There are so many ways to look it at and, yes, even mock the "God told me" scenario.

    Let's start with Pat Robertson.
I'm not a religious person but used to watch his show many years ago. I found it interesting at times. Then he found politics. Politics and religion don't mix.
So God told him to run. He lost. Should have stuck to just religion and the ratings and the money dude. BTW he's getting worse.

Michelle. Oh Michelle. The God of makeup told you to run. Yer so damn purty all dressed up. Don't mean a thing if you're dumber than a box of rocks until it might actually matter a bit. Praise whatever God you worship.
Seems it matters very little and actually you ain't that purty.

Rick Perry. Who's your God? God of oil? Olive Oil? God of rampant stupidity and booze? Or is it drugs?

Herman Cain. God of Pizza maybe? Chicks love that pepperoni it seems --- or maybe not.

I'm not out here to blast God or belief in Him. I'm undecided actually. What I AM decided on are four morons that chose to use His name as a running point. Sorry, but I don't see these folks gathering around the table at dinner for prayer for the most part. Maybe Robertson to save face.

I think potential voters see this as well. Spouting out your "God told me to run" could be a vile trick by.......

    Can we say SATAN?

Never know. Could be. If they have the audacity to claim that "God told them" then why not Satan? One works in mysterious ways while the other works in mysteriously deceiving ways.
No matter how you look at it claiming God told you to run does not seem overly bright.

It has, after all, been attempted by people that I don't consider overly bright. Unless there's a book deal perhaps. Just think of the possible book titles.
I can think of several but I'll leave that alone.

Here's the kicker folks. What if ONE day someone actually DOES get a message from God to run for POTUS. For ALL the right reasons?
That person will lose thanks to Moe, Larry, Curly and Shemp.

If it was really God and He told you to do so would you not obey the word of God? God granted atheism. What a concept.

What is so different about someone sayin that "God told them to run for president" or someone saying, "God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work":

Obama invoked God in this statement. What does Obama know about God? Did God speak to him directly? Obama is quite the religious Christian, you know. It appears as though Obama has a direct connection to God as evidenced by that statement. How does Obama know what God wants?

When I hear someone say that "God" told them to do something, I immediately think what an incredible amount of audacity. God thinks that you are so important that he personally gave you verbal advice on your life and oh by the way, it really works out nicely for you personally. Riiiiiiiiiight?
I don't know whether they have actually convinced themselves that the voice in their heads is actually God or whether they are the worst form of charlatan humanity has to offer. I’ll believe the next person that comes along and says, “I have decided to do X and I believe that God has inspired me to do X but I wouldn’t pretend to really know how God works or what his plan is.” Anyone that goes any further than that is simply using God as a prop in their own goals and desires and couldn’t be further from Godliness.

If I hear someone say god told them to do something I would think they were hearing voices and probably borderline schizophrenic like Joan of Arc.
