Ahhh, cannot wait until January 3 and the Iowa caucuses! I just got a news alert that Rep. King may now actually endorse a candidate (he's been remarkably reticent) "in order to stop Ron Paul." This tells me that King, the consummate Iowa insider, must be seeing late polls showing Paul pulling out a first-place finish. Of course, the mainstream GOP as well as the rogue TPM are desperate to stop Paul -- why, I'm not really sure! The TPM loathes Romney, and perhaps the mainstream GOP fears being splashed with the "fringe" label in the event of a Paul win. King, of course, is a great friend of Michele Bachmann. But can he possibly endorse HER given that her campaign in Iowa is nearly dead? I think not. Since I'm from the other party, I'm just strapping on a seatbelt and settling in on Tuesday with a big bowl of popcorn.
Why would the caucuses be any less of a joke than everything that has come before them? I am embarrassed for them. The interesting part in my opinion will be when one of these clown car occupants actually gets nominated and the rest of them have to fall in line behind a guy that they hate. That’ll be good.
Since it's a Republican thing, I can't help but call it the Iowa Caca-ses. I have noticed how CNN is pushing for Romney to win, that they seem to favor him... and that they are casting most others in a generally negative light. I say cast them all in a negative light, I mean... they are Republicans... so it's fair to say they all suck.
I don't have TV so only hear the blogosphere take on things vis a vis the media coverage. I can actually understand why the majority of GOP leadership (using the term advisedly) would prefer Romney to any of the others. It's been remarkable tome to watch the see-saw madness in the polls, more like a free-for-all ballgame than a nomination process for president of the USA! How serious can any candidate be who can be at 4 percent one week and up to 30 percent the next, having done exactly nothing to improve the lives of people in the interim? At least Romney is steady. Not much, but there's that.
What this whole process or debacle demonstrates is a fundamental adherence to a highly flawed political ideology. All political systems adhere to one ideology or another but when an ideology is so flawed that the political process it is applied to begins to eat itself, those heavily invested in that ideology will most certainly be the last to see the faults inherent in their own ideals. In other words, it is useless to argue with Right-wingers because they are completely unable to objectively understand how their own ideology has failed them so thoroughly. They are simply unable to separate themselves from their ideology and objectively compare what they believe with the reality they choose not to acknowledge. Given that reality, how do you deal with someone so locked into a set of ideals that are not only failing them personally but also failing all of society as a consequence? The only answer I guess is that you never argue ideology with them. They will inevitably try to turn the conversation/argument to an ideologically-based narrative but if you use relevant objective facts and refuse to acknowledge or respond to ideology, they can either walk away in frustration or deal with you on terms that can actually be debated. For this approach, they have no defense.
Well, yeah... that's fine if you're non-violent ...(grabs a baseball bat)... not all of us are. You can't discount slapping 'em around a bit for effectiveness. While it may not be as effectual, it's more deserving. I mean, they've (deleted)-up America enough, and I'm not in a coddling mood.
