Seriously? All I'm seeing is "Moen1305: [insert excuse here]"

I guess David was right about my answer providing you with "justification" for dancing around the question he posed--a question to which many of us have expressed interest in seeing the answer(s). *meh*

Well if it is just an excuse, it seems pretty well founded in the reality of the current situation making it more of a good reason than anything else. I can tell by the question that he didn't even read the article.

Whatever. The truth is, it seems to me, that you never had any intention of answering his question no matter how it was framed. You can talk really big, but when it comes to actually producing anything it seems you fall a bit short.

Just pick one side of the fence or the other. There are no points here for being all things to all people. You are just coming off as holier than thou. Are you holier than thou? I don’t feel that it is your job to moderate David’s questions, so please just step back. He is supposed to be a big boy and he can take care of himself without your assistance. I don’t mind that you tried to clarify his question but that is where you should have stopped. If you want to ask me a question, go for it. Uncalled for.

Thank you for the total. How many one-sentence posts have you come up with? You are the Partisan Lines one-sentence wonder champ.

9 and counting. Still won't answer? BTW, there are 4 sentences here. That is twice as many as your post and mine said something.

These are valid questions posed by David and HollysMom. If this is going to be a thread about "Obama Cares!" then can someone (anyone?) try to answer these questions to show just HOW Obama "cares"....? It doesn't look like it's going to be Moen, so...... anyone???

Translation: It was funny when you were picking on David. Now that you're picking on me I'm no longer amused. You're mean. Stop it.

Translation: It is your job to protect David and moderate his questions. And I am mean for asking you to stop. I even said "please".
You have to realize that I was picking on him and his silly RW views long before you ever showed up. There really isn't much you can do to change that unless you want to throw your allegiance behind all the stuff he says. I’d like to see that.
What I enjoy about this forum is that I don’t have to wait until Michele Bachmann says that we should close our embassy in Iran, or wait for Rick Perry to claim election day is the 12th and that you have to be 21 to vote, or Cain to make reference to our generals on the ground in Iran and worry about China developing nuclear capabilities, because I can come straight to the source of Imbecileland and hear the same type of nonsense straight from their supporters. I never did have much in the way of patience.

So 'fess up. It doesn't matter whether the questions are posed well or not. You are simply refusing to answer them. You don't like being put into a position in which you have to back up your bravado--and hey, I can deal with that. Just don't pretend that your inability to walk the walk has anything to do with me or with David. Personal responsibility: it's where it's at.

    Edited to add:

I just wanted to say that the "You're mean. Stop it" was part of my translation. That is, my translation was saying that you were telling me that *I* was mean and for *me* to stop it. Yes, you did say "please" and I appreciate that.

You hit that one right on the head! moen posts this crap because it's what he is told to do by the far left fools he serves, he repeats & defends it because he simply doesn't know any better.

You know how bad he was at trying to frame the question(s). You correctly called him out on it because you didn't understand what he was asking either. He simply asked questions, as interpreted by you, that I nor anyone else has the data on hand to answer. Does that make the millions that will see lower medication costs thanks to the new health care law unimportant? I’d ask those people how they feel.
But since you demand an answer, I will answer your questions. I don’t believe that anyone here has the right to demand answers from any other member. I especially avoid answering stupid questions which I feel I shouldn’t have to waste my time on when we all have access to the same information. If in the future, and you can tell David this, you want to counter something I have posted, look up the answer and post it. I have better things to than answer poorly worded questions.

    1) When you consider how many people are exempted from the Affordable Healthcare Act , is it worth ruining the entire healthcare system? How does an answer even exist to this “question”? First you’d have to know what he means by “people exempted” and I don’t. Then you’d have to base your answer on this unknown, undefined number of people and assume that whatever their number is, they will “ruin” the “entire” health care system. It is just a poorly thought out question that can’t be answered by anyone.

    2) How do you justify people who are exempted by where they live or by the organizations to which they belong being forced to buy into this program? Which people? What people? What organizations? What does living anywhere have to do with anything?

    3) Should people who can afford healthcare or those who don't take prescriptions at all be required to be part of this program? This is just stupid because people who can afford health care and those that don’t take prescriptions have nothing to do with the Medicare donut hole. This question just demonstrates his poor understanding of the subject he is attempting to seem knowledgeable about and that is just pathetic.

    4) How will people who already get low-cost prescriptions through their current insurance benefit? My guess, and I’m going to go out on a limb here, is that if these people aren’t on Medicare and don’t fall into the donut hole, the benefit of this decline in the cost of medications will be different or unchanged entirely but since this article has nothing to do with them, I really couldn’t say.

Thank you, Moen. I sincerely appreciate your taking the time and the effort to post your responses. There are a number of organizations that have requested exemptions from the Affordable Healthcare Act. I certainly don't know all of them, because I am not an expert on the act and I am hoping to see it dismantled over time--but they do exist. I am only guessing, but the "people exempted" may be those individuals who work for those organizations.

Again, thank you for responding. You've given me some things to think about. And, since I'm going to be writing a research proposal on the Affordable Healthcare Act for my Intro to Research class, I'll have the opportunity to look for the answers to some of these questions while doing my lit review.

    Now children. Play nice. ;)

You really are seeing clearly how things work here. "You're either with us, or against us". It's quite a bit like Congress where staying lock step with your side is considered a must.

Obamacare Mandate Kicking Insurance Agents To The Curb

In an environment where jobs are hard to find, the Obama administration has thrown more than 100,000 health insurance agents and brokers under the bus and given them the gift of an unemployment line just before the holidays.

To make matters worse, a large number of insurance agents, known in the trade as producers, are self-employed and under the prevailing laws may have difficulty receiving unemployment insurance.

It all stems from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), known colloquially as Obamacare. PPACA dictates that health insurers must spend at least $0.80 of every $1.00 in premiums collected on health care in the individual and small group markets, and $0.85 in the large group market.

Insurance agents were recently able to get backing from National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) to exclude their commissions from this medical loss ratio calculation (MLR), which refers to the percentage of premium dollars spent on medical claims. For example, if an insurance company received $100 in premiums and spent $80 on medical claims, its MLR would be 80%.

Starting January 1, 2011, PPACA required health insurance companies to provide an annual rebate to the insured if MLR was less than 80% in the individual and small group markets and 85% in the large group market. The point of the law is to reduce selling, general and administrative expenses of the insurance companies.

In 2008, insurance companies spent 2.02% of the premiums on selling commissions. Commissions ranked just behind staff compensation among the expense categories of SG & A, representing 17.43% of the administrative expense.
The insurance companies have been cutting back on commissions to comply with the law. There are a lot of statistics floating around, but perhaps most instructive is the following paragraph from a United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) report:

Almost all of the insurers we interviewed were reducing brokers’ commissions and making adjustments to premiums in response to the PPACA MLR requirements. These insurers said that they have decreased or plan to decrease commissions to brokers in an effort to increase their MLRs. One insurer said they started making reductions to their brokers’ commissions in the fourth quarter of 2010 for their individual and small group plans to increase their 2011 PPACA MLRs in these markets and, as a result, premiums were not as high as they otherwise would have been. This insurer said these reductions will take effect gradually because they are only being applied to new sales or when groups renew annually. Another insurer lowered commissions to their brokers in the individual market in the first quarter of 2011, such that premiums were increased less than they otherwise would have been, which they expect to result in an increase in their PPACA MLRs for 2011.

Since I hate insurance people, and the way they rob every one of us legally, I rather enjoy the idea of them being under that bus. In fact, I would like the keys please... and fill the tank... It's gonna be a busy day with 100,000 of 'em to run over.

...and could you include lawyers too? They keep messing the system up, and abusing the system, and filing bs lawsuits to rake in money. They gotta go.

And spot me a few bucks... with this many people to run over I'm gonna need some sustenance from Micky D's and will need to go through several car washes... probably pop a few tires too. Make it a buck a head to be safe.
