I can not speak for Cointalk, but I have a collective unconsious as well as an armed house. As for the NRA, they may be a bit off at times but do you really want only the government to have the weapons? The people who started this progressive democracy new better then to go down that street.

Oh, I thought it was all the Soros money that was backing all of your ill-conceived ideas. Do lunatics on the left bathe in hypocrisy, or what? Or do they even bathe at all? I mean, the Flea Party isn't exactly a tender love-in, you know? Where do they get all the money to fund their violence? Maybe they rip off each other's iPads or something... They have to have money to buy their guns and they have to get it from somewhere... Or perhaps they are stealing it. Who knows?

Responsible gun ownership for hunting and other sports is one of the best things about this country. We have been mostly trustworthy as a people and traditionally kept guns out the hands of the people who would use them to harm others. But it is impossible to both flood the population with guns and control how those guns are going to be used. So we decide as a people how much gun violence we are willing tolerate before we are sick and tired of the shootings and decide to change something. One of the real and provable differences between those who advocate for more and more gun rights and those who would see an outright ban on guns is that one group has a much, much higher tolerance for gun violence than the other group.
Are they just a more tolerant group overall? No, quite the opposite actually. They are actually highly intolerant of the fear of not owning a weapon and all the insecurity that entails for them. The weapon becomes the solution to a multitude of perceived problems real or more often, imaginary. There are many reason to own a tool like a gun. Been around them my whole life. There is an acre and a half from my childhood that no gopher would have dared to set up shop on thanks to my 22. Long Rifle and a very nice scope. I used to like the way they would dig their own graves. Sorry you animal lovers but this is a pocket gopher. To be honest, I think if we armed mother gophers, they shoot their own offspring. They are ugly and destructive and their population never seems to be on decline.

Replace the word "gun" with "automobile" and the same argument can be made. The difference is that the right to own an automobile is not constitutionally guaranteed, but the right to bear arms is. Unless you want to change the Constitution, of course. I don't. I think people should be educated in the proper use of firearms for safety purposes. But, you're never going to stop deaths caused by guns just as you're never going to stop deaths by automobiles. For example, the old, bad joke is that Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun (true!).

People will still get in cars and drive drunk like Ted Kennedy did and people will wind up dead. I don't suppose you advocate removing automobiles from the road, do you? I suspect you'd rather educate the drivers in the proper use of a car and drill it into their heads to not drive drunk (or talk on the phone, text, etc.).

Did you forget Soros owns the left? He calls the shots & directs the agenda. It's his money so the lefties do exactly what he tells them to do. So, yeah, if you call out Soros people like moen are going to go on the defensive.

Obviously you are way closer to the bottom than you are the top in regards to the far left hierachy. You (and tom) need to just remain a good foot soldier of the left & continue repeating/believing what they tell you....that's all you need to know.

What? Did you miss the news? BO issued a mea culpa on the lies he told about his uncle's military service...after the timeline was proved inaccurate. The timeline also didn't match up when he claimed his parents met at a civil rights march...the march actually took place after he was born! And the program where he claimed Ted Kennedy sponsored his father wasn't in place at the time his father came to the US. I suggest you take off the BO blinders.

Ummmm, well, I believe it's called a medical diagnosis. Look 'em up, they've been around for a while.
As for Hill, you know she lobbied for UHC when Slick Willie was president, right? She couldn't see it through.

Maybe you should try reading a bit before you post because most of what you've posted here makes you seem pretty silly & uninformed.
**psst, consult clembo before you post...he may be able to help

Wow, you are the only leftist I ever came across that is for reasonable gun ownership. Perhaps that is because I am more used to the urban leftist. Everyone who has a clean record, and medical/mental records should be public access for this as well, over the age of 21 and is a citizen of this nation should be allowed access to weaponary, the type can be debateable, after a three month waiting period and child proof locks as well as reasonable priced gun safety courses for every weapon purchase should be enforced.

I'd say it's the same as the talk coming out of right-wing commentors and the average Republican... that they do not necessarily agree with each other. Same as most countries and that country's general population... the leadership may be horrible, but the population, in general... and in most instances, are reasonable people. The idea that Democrats are all against gun-ownership is like that... in general, it's the elements in the Democratic leadership that are against some aspects of gun-ownership and not the rank and file.

I was astounded that cities like Washington D.C. and Chicago even tried to make guns illegal... that they succeeded was unreal. IMO, that left law enforcement, a few select citizens, and thugs with guns... while the average citizen couldn't own one? Un-bloody-real. FYI, I'd have made my own, and I don't even want one... but if they said I couldn't have one I'd make one... lol
