We lost a dog last week. I found out that a dear friend of mine is going in for tests this week to determine if he has prostate cancer. I'm supposed to be cooking for the dog show this weekend (about 100 people for three days). And today my roommate was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. At least I'm not attending classes right now . . .
Oh boy that sound like you have a lot of you know what hitting the fan in one go Hope that your friend pulls through ok same goes for your roommate ans real sorry to hear about the loss of your dog
I couldn't agree more with the sentiment. It never happens in singles so that you can fix them easy. Last week our car broke down, my wife was stuck in the car for 5 hours, I had to walk 8 miles to get home and take money back, she lost her job because of it, I had to drop out of school this semester to pick up extra hours, and that was just last week.
I don't mind when a bunch of little things happen together, but the prostate cancer thing threw me for a loop. And my poor roommate--the dog we lost was the last of the ones that her sister left in her care a couple of years ago, when her sister hit hard times. Her sister died this past summer, so losing Sonny was like losing her sister all over again--then to be sick on top of it . . . But yeah, Dee, stuff like that just sets off a chain reaction. I was without a car for over six months one time and we have no public transportation in my town. Good luck to you--I hope you recover from it faster and better than I did.
Wow, Bad run but life throws us some pretty wicked curve balls at times. Hope you two get through it fairly quickly.
Just to update you folks: Sonny has been buried with "a lot of good dogs" in a friend's dog graveyard. It's a beautiful resting place for him. My friend Dan had his tests and he came out cancer-free. HOORAY! I've got the chili made for the show, as well as the pulled chicken bbq and the meat sauce for Saturday's pasta is nearly done. All I have left to do is the red beans and rice, along with the cornbread. Yay! And Dana will be released from the hospital tomorrow. Her blood sugar is normal again (after changing her insulin), they found an antibiotic she's not allergic to, and all seems well with the world. My thanks for the well-wishes to all who sent them; it's been a trying week, but it's almost over. Roll on show and Sprite's grand championship!
That pneumonia stuff can be nasty. It took me over 2 years to recover - or at least as well as I am going to get.
Yeah, she's apparently been brewing it for a few months, but not in any way that we could detect it. When she finally ran a fever, her left lung had collapsed and her right lung was filling with fluid. She's a diabetic and she has a history of heart problems (and she's younger than I am!), so they didn't want to release her even though she has no insurance. She's really very lucky that she came out of it as well as she did.
Thanks for the compliment! Come to the show tomorrow and you can have some. If you handle a Toy Fox Terrier for me, it will even be free--keep that on the QT, though--UKC rules state no compensation for handlers.
