Hardly, the guy "couldn't recall" what he had for breakfast that morning but going back to even the tax rate he put in place would bring this country bak to economic health.
Let's compare filmmakers to filmmakers here. I'd put up Michael Moore against the likes of Andrew Breitbart any day. Because when you are a Right-wing filmmaker, it just requires a lot of creative editing to misrepresent the truth. Whereas being a Left-wing filmmaker, all you have to do is film real people living their lives to push your point. Every time Breitbart puts out anything, inevitably the unedited of the video version comes out which tells the real story. Maybe you RW'ers hate Moore so much because he uses the truth to make you look really bad. I could see how that would bother you. Breitbart on the other hand, gives sleaziness a bad name.
I have absolutely no problem saying that Michael Moore is a hypocrite. He isn't living according to the principles that he claims to support. Any person who pays $1,000,000 for a car doesn't represent me or people like me. However, I don't look to people like Michael Moore to support my perceptions in regards to wealth just like I don't look to people like Al Gore to support my perceptions in regard to Global Warming. I think that he, like many starts and popular people, are trying to ride the coat tails of the movement.
I think you have missed the point of the protests. They already own the country. They control what you see and hear on a daily basis because they own all the media. They control the electrical, water and other support systems because they own the resources. They decide what food you eat and what liquids you drink. They control the pockets of the politicians and it doesn't matter what side the politician claims to be on. They control the means of production and they own the intellectual rights to almost all the building blocks of that production. It is why so many of us are trying to rebuild it all without giving them the rights.
I cry bs on this post. Sorry, Moen, but this time you've fallen from the branch of discourse into the pit of demagoguery. It takes no more effort for one side to twist the truth into a barely recognizable mass than it does the other side--and both side are equally guilty of doing the same. I, for one, am sick of the petty bickering and character assassination that goes on every day while this country sinks into the fetid swamp of both "sides'" making. In my opinion, Moore is anti-American. He speaks highly of the healthcare system in Cuba while growing fat on the wealth here in the United States. He creates nothing but half-truths intended to destroy our political system and yet still enjoys the benefits of living in this nation. I have watched some of his movies and have felt embarrassed for him. But Moore is not the cause of any sickness in this country as he is a symptom of it. Journalism as I knew it when I was growing up, is dead. With apologies to Dickens, it has been boiled in its own pudding and has been buried with a stake of holly through its heart. The news wire has been abandoned for Facebook Walls and Twitter tweets. Investigative reporters Woodward and Bernstein have been supplanted by bloggers who rarely see the light of day. Edward R. Murrow has given way to Jon Stewart and the Daily Show. Documentaries have been replaced by propaganda, news by infotainment. It's our own fault, really, that our nation no longer has the critical thinking skills to see Michael Moore and all other extremists like him on both sides of the aisle as the false prophets that they are and, instead of rejecting them, embrace them as purveyors of truth.
But aren't you just falling for the typical Right-wing meme here? Moore isn't condemning everyone that is wealthy in this country. He singles out those that corrupt our political system, buy our politicians, and slant the playing field unfairly in their direction. Moore never says all wealthy people are bad by any stretch of the imagination, yet that is the stick the Right is beating him with. He points specifically to the bankers, Wall Street, and other financial groups that are guilty of shafting this country and he uses examples. So I highly suggest that buying into the RW meme that Moore cannot comment on the abuses of the these greedy moneyed interests just because he has wealth is nonsense. But the Right will continue to keep saying it anyway.
I am not "the Right." I am me. I have formed my own opinions based on what I have seen (Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, Sicko; various television appearances) and what I have read on the Internet and in print. I do not like or trust Michael Moore. There is something in his eyes and in his expression that both sickens me and frightens me. It has nothing to do with his politics--I had the same feeling with the Bushes--and everything to do with the malevolence that he seems to have in him. Just because I lean right does not mean that I have lost control of my synapses and have to be spoon-fed pablum. Thanks.
It really annoys me that searching for new on Google presents blog entries as news. You actually have to filter out opinion pieces from news manually.
I was not accusing you of being the "Right" nor do I believe you speak for the Right any more than I speak for the Left. I believe that we both speak for ourselves. I continually get accused of being, not even speaking for, but being the far Left by our resident RW'ers here so I understand that you wouldn't want to be lumped into a large amorphous group and have words put into your mouth. If you go back and read my comments again, I didn't say that you were the Right or speaking for the Right, I said that you are falling for the typical Right-wing meme. In other words, you have simply believed the talking point that is a staple of the Right-wingers. I cannot comment on your feelings about anyone either. If you can give me specific examples of Moore's work and the examples he uses that bother you, I can speak to those. I find his use of actual regular people in his documentaries especially compelling since most ordinary people do not have agendas that either the Right or the Left tend to want to manipulate. I mean, Moore might be selectively choosing which people to put in his documentaries and leaving others out but I don't think you can argue that the people he chooses are a genuine representation of American views.
Tp be clear, I view myself as an Independant with left-leaning tendencies. No offense to Moen or HollysMom, but if you lean left or right it's fair to call you left or right. In my case I'd say it's fair to call me left. Moen I'd call left, HollysMom right... not to be offensive, but those are your leanings and I see no reason not to use left or right as shorthand for your basic leanings lol ...Ok, I'll shut up now...
