Here's a way the Dims can hold the WH in 2012!!

Just an aside, but with all our talk of the need for civility around here how come it's apparently okay to refer to the Democrats as "Dims". I mean I've been called on my use of "Bagger" for Tea Party members (even though I don't think it's a party in the conventional sense) and will refrain from using this term going forward. How much longer is "Dim" going to be allowed? (This Dim thing could so easily be thrown back.... But never mind. I've taken a vow of niceness)

Completely agreed, Takiji. It's not okay to refer to the Democrats as Dims, either. Thanks for pointing out the need for civility to flow both ways. I don't use the term, myself--but I can't change the title of the thread and as far as I know it can't be done, so chastising seems kind of pointless. It would be great if it could be done, though. So happy to see that you're climbing onto the niceness bandwagon! :D There's plenty of room up there for you!

I say keep calling them "Baggers" or "Teabaggers" or whatever... I don't think they're offended by the term (even though the left uses it as a derogatory term).

I'm not so much worried about what they think as I am trying to do my part to make this a more civil place. And I must say I see it is kind of struggle for me personally. I used to be genuinely nice until I started hanging out here ;)

As for the real tea party, it was a protest against corporate power and government pandering to same. The enemy in that case was the British East India Company, one of the multinationals of the day. I think the tea partiers in their present incarnation were on exactly this same wavelength until corporate America as personified by the Koch Bros co-opted them.

Thank you, nice to have some room to stretch out. RE: the Dims thing, this is pretty much David's standard way of referring to the Democrats.

Dims, Cons, Flea Party, Tea Baggers, BO, et al...it is all so overused that it long, long ago went from being clever to just being boring and tedious but I do my best to ignore it all.

Gee, I wish I held such moral highground.....

I use dim & BO for 2 reasons. 1- it shows my distain & 2- its like shorthand so I don't have to type out the hole name. So there.

You said a mouthful although I'm not sure I'd say most people.
