Around 4 a.m. Sunday morning, a bottle of Gatorade containing an explosive chemical concoction was hurled into Occupy Maine’s home base in Portland’s Lincoln Park — causing a small but dangerous explosion. No one was injured, and the Portland police are actively investigating the incident. Two points I'd like to make. 1) Notice whether or not this story appears anywhere on the national media networks, and 2) What would the reporting have been if this had happened at a Tea Party event.
It's posted of Drudge, so is this: http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2011/10/24/accusations-of-teen-runaway-sexual-activity-at-occupy-dallas/
....and this: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/shootings_way_up_in_two_weeks_rajGrOA0bMpTBslidEUgOI
You can find it online no problem because of the nature of internet blogs but you won't see any cable or national network covering it even though it is clearly an act of domestic terrorism. "Curiouser and curiouser"! cried Alice. View attachment 297
Domestic terrorism? Really. Fort Hood was domestic terrorism. I would consider King Samir Shabazz and Jerry Jackson domestic terrorism. I might even consider Rep. John Lewis's accusations against the Tea Party terrorism. But a bottle that can be attributed to no one and is about as likely a teen prank as anything else?
It's clearly an act of domestic terrorism not getting any mainstream press. That's the obvious point.
Because of all the mainstream press the Tea Party got for no apparent reason. Now imagine if someone had tossed an explosive device into one of their protests. Of course many of the Tea Party folks carried guns openly and these protesters aren't as violent as that. It just strikes me as odd how the Right-wingers like Fox go out of their way to paint the OWS folks are violent.
There is actually main stream press giving attention to this. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-20124833/chemical-bomb-thrown-at-occupy-maine-camp/ Considering some of the calls to violence against the protesters I keep reading on various blogs, comment sections and letter-to-editors I would not be surprised that someone threw a bomb. I read the situation where the bomb was thrown and it was a drive-by incident. I, personally, don't know a lot of teenagers who spend their time bombing liberal events. I will definitely be following the follow up reports.
If this had happened at a Bagger gathering the RWers would be screaming about Left Wing violence and how Socialist Communist Nazi Muslim thugs were bent on suppressing free speech. And if it did turn out to be a "teen prank" they would switch to moaning about the baleful pernicious Liberal influence on education and youth without missing a beat. And if the "pranksters" in question happened not to be white then that would open up whole new avenues for them. And if the bomb-thrower did in fact turn out to be some Fundamentalist Christian nut job or a far Right freak they would be scouring everything available on him in hopes of turning him into a closet Buddhist Lefty who had inexplicably turned on his own or more likely was acting as an agent provocateur attempting to smear the right and inflame anti-RW feeling. The Party of Personal Responsibility is so predictable when it comes to this stuff.
There is so much in that little CBS blurb DeeNeely. For starters we all have an idea how to make a "chemical bomb" now. Tin foil and Drano seem to be key ingredients and I'm sure we could find it online somewhere. Next, I see a few long time "combatants" of Partisan Lines/PRWE going at it. No surprise to me. So is it domestic terrorism? I wouldn't go that far. On the other hand is it "pranks by teens?". I doubt that as well. Maybe I'm wrong but has ANYONE ever heard of this prank? I mean EVER? I live an area that I'm sure has a lot more people than Portland, Maine. I read stories about stupid people doing stupid stuff every day and have never seen this one. Does Portland have a lock on this one? Is it a Maine thing? If Moen can't prove that it was done by "domestic terrorists" I'll ask this. Can rlm's cents prove that it was a teen prank? Sorry rlm but I have to call you out on that one. Just you and Moen going at it as usual. Can either of you show me anything? You're talking but you're not saying anything. My take on it is an honest I don't know. If there are Drano fumes causing breathing difficulty and an explosion affecting one's ear drums it's not a good thing. I would imagine Drano fumes around food aren't a good thing either but I have no scientific proof. Just a gut feeling. For anyone that doesn't agree, well, try it in your kitchen and report back with your findings. Domestic terrorism? Teen pranks? Who cares until we know and find the culprits. Bottom line is it was dangerous. Hell, why not amp it up and toss in some Clorox and BoPeep. Might kill somebody that way. Perps need to be found and serve some time.
I am glad to see someone got my point. You will notice, I never said that it was a teen prank. What I said was that right now, no one could prove it was not a teen prank.
If moen think that is domestic terrorism, how about this; http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=37432 and http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politi...ty-rally-bare-knuckle-politics-in-the-streets
Yes, I've seen it on the national media. In fact, I heard the story on CBS News. I don't know. Maybe you can tell us. I doubt you can seriously respond since you're asking "if"... therefore any answer you give is merely supposition.
