So Al Gore doesn't " like liberals, atheist, gays, mormons[sic], etc and they see nothing wrong with suppressing other peoples rights"? I will bet he will be tickled pink to learn that.

    Nothing wrong with that...
Now, you're just enforcing your perceived stereotype without evidence to support your claim. Just who is "they"? All Tennesseans? When you say "they", you're pretty much grouping all Tennesseans into one group... certainly you don't mean that, do you?
Oh, come on now. Tennessee was a part of the Democratic Solid South until the 1950's and has remained moderate ever since. How are they suppressing rights in Tennessee? Maybe your perception is skewed by the influx of people coming into Tennessee from the northern states, California and Florida.
There's no need to be mean to our good neighbors in Alabama. A lot of good things and people have come from the Yellowhammer State.

    Breaking News!
This just in, our local Occupy group has suspended "regular" protests due to low turn-out. The reason for the low turn-out? Most protestors cited their "jobs" as the reason they were unable to meet (& protest a lack of jobs). Future protests will be scheduled around protestor's schedules so they do not conflict with other obligations. Of course this was further complicated by the fact the local leader had to bow out of his leadersip & organizational responsibilities due to a job transfer resulting from a promotion at work! He was heard to say he hoped to participate in protests in Cincinnati once his company "relocates him & he settles in".

First, I think you might want to pay attention to my wording. In particular, the use of the word tend.
I think you might find the words regularly or frequently to be of use. I really hate having to define words, but the fact that two different posters assumed that the statement applied to all Tennesseans. The word tend is a synonym for generally, be disposed, be in the habit of, be inclined, be liable, be predisposed, be prejudiced, bear, bend, drift, favor, gravitate, have a tendency, have an inclination, etc.
Second, when are people going to get it through their heads that this isn't circa the 1950's and before. You do realize that was over half a century ago and that the demographics of that time period are pretty much irrelevant to the current time.

In regards to your statement: How are they suppressing rights in Tennessee?

How about I give you a few examples.

Earlier this week the governor of Tennessee suddenly changed the laws in the middle of a protest to allow him to arrest the people protesting. He deliberately changed some of the laws in Tennessee to make what the protesters were doing illegal and trashed their right to peaceful assembly. In other words, in the middle of a peaceful assembly as justified by the Constitution he make that assembly illegal. How is that not suppressing the rights of the people assembled?
Earlier this year Tennessee passed the "Don't Say Gay Bill" which made it against the law to talk about anything related to homosexuality before the 9th grade. If a child has gay parents they aren't even allowed to mention that fact in school. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2011/apr/21/dont-say-gay-bill-clears-senate-panel/

Earlier than that the state of Tennessee passed a law which prohibited municipalities in the state from passing laws that protect gay, bisexual and transgendered people from discrimination. It is a law which institutionalizes discrimination against gay people. http://www.towleroad.com/2011/05/tennessee-governor-signs-anti-gay-bill-prohibiting-local-non-discrimination-statues-overturning-nash.html

In 2006 the state of Tennessee passed Tennessee Amendment 1 which joined other repressive states in denying the right to marry to certain parts of the population. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee_Amendment_1_(2006)

Earlier this year the state of Tennessee passed a religious discrimination law against Muslims. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/daniel-tutt/tennessees-antimuslim-bil_b_863032.html

Then there is the law requiring that creationism be taught in school. http://www.scienceandatheism.com/20...nism-into-the-science-classroom/#.TqrAioZt884

The fact that the state constitution of Tennessee forbids atheist from holding office. http://www.tncrimlaw.com/law/constit/IX.html

As I was saying. Tennessee tends towards conservativism, which I do think is a bad thing because it relies on holding things to ancient mindsets, and doesn't reflect modern society. It reflects an inability to understand the changes in the world and instead relies on ancient and repressive thinking patterns.

WOW, I'm hoping every single gay person on the planet moves to Tennessee... to take control of the legislature there ...and, if unable due to a (surely) newly written "No Gays in Politics" law, kick some Tennessee butts.

I wish I could find that Youtube video of the interviewer convincing an OWS group to establish a hierarchy...by the time he was done he had them convinced one needed to be the CEO, they should be paid for what they were doing, etc...basically he had them doing everything they had initially claimed to oppose. If anyone can find the video, please post it!

Be careful, if you keep posting these links, the far lefts bubble is going to burst & they might have to admit OWS has devolved into nothing more than a gathering of thugs, criminals & anarchists.

Did you catch the comments from Starbucks? They are claiming a spike in sales at locations near OWS cites. Apparently, those anti-capitalist hoards have to have their $5 lattes when sitting around on their Ipads & laptops.

Stretch the truth all you want to, you're only fooling yourself.

Read this and maybe you'll understand why I say that:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Lie

A quote from the article above:

"...in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods."

And who is supposed to be insulting to whom?

I'm not attempting to be insulting, only attempting to make the point that a lie, repeated often enough, is still a lie... whether people believe that lie or not. I posted the link to show how repeating the lie, while effective, is wrong. I see people delude themselves all the time, brain-washing themselves into believing in small lies out of a hatred for something or someone. In this case Obama, and the Occupy Movement. Over time, and a continued ignoring of the truth, what's left for you? The lie?

I agree with the "repeating a lie often enough...." thing but in some cases calling something a lie doesn't necessarily make it a lie.

Again, just who is supposed to be insulting to whom? Remember my comment about perspective. Think about it.

Of course, perspective is everything. I know a kid who lies to himself all the time, lies to his family all the time, lies to his friends all the time. I'm sure he justifies it in one way or another... it's a habit for him. To him, it's a matter of perspective too.

Pressure to leave mounts on Occupy camps

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Occupy Oakland protesters rallied and marched Saturday even as city officials have increased pressure on them to leave their encampment in front of City Hall.
For the second time in as many days, Oakland city officials warned protesters Saturday morning that they do not have the right to camp in the plaza overnight and face immediate arrest and the removal of their tents, stoves, sleeping bags and other belongings. The eviction notices come as officials across the country urged an end to similar gatherings in the wake of three deaths in different cities, including two by gunfire.

"Your activities are injurious to health, obstruct the free use of property, interfering with the comfortable enjoyment of (Frank Ogawa Plaza), and unlawfully obstruct the free passage or use of a public park or square," the notice read.
