Are you saying that I'm lying because I didn't say "climate scientists"? Are you really saying that? So the point I am going to have to concede here is that the world microbiologists are not part of the 97%-98% numbers? That's your actual point? If so, I want my money back that went to connecting the internet to the rural areas of the country. It has definitely been a wasted investment.
In fact, there is nothing to say or imply that they are scientists at all! (BTW, I checked 2 and found a civil engineer and a computer programmer.) Those who signed a letter, those who signed a statement, etc. were included but only if the agreed with the ACC tenets. My guess is that many of them are Al Gore, Jr.'s. And obviously, those who agree with the ACC tenets believe in man made global warming since that is what the tenets are. So, a) they are not necessarily scientists at all and b) they are not a representative group of anything except of those who claim global warming is happening and it is man made.
This is the way it is with almost every discussion on this board, but I guess that's fairly typical. One of the few things that most of us seem to agree on is full civil rights for gays (provided you don't have to shower with us). Is it the Libertarian bent here? And there seems to be a marked lack of interest in religion. I've not encountered this before. I still haven't figured this place out. Now back to the op. To the extent that we were there at this point to begin with.
Meh. A lot of people on here say they don't want gay people looking at them in the shower. Are they ashamed of themselves or the way their bodies look naked? You know, God made me the way I am and some people are going to like it and some people aren't. I'm not ashamed of anything, so if gays or straights want to ogle me, I'll take it as a compliment. It's when people STOP looking at me that I'll be concerned! There's probably more of that in the RELIGION forum. It doesn't seem that many people here want to discuss religion...
I'm too self-absorbed and narcissistic to focus much on what other people look like. Well that's really what I was talking about. The Religion section is dead on this site.
WHAT??? There are OTHER people now? We used to have some pretty good discussions of religion in that section but if I remember right, the mods were pretty heavy handed and it sort of killed many of the more interesting topics. Speaking of that, have you read God, No!: Signs You May Already Be an Atheist and Other Magical Tales by Penn Jillette? I asked for it for my birthday so I can give more details after Tuesday.
Listen you pagen, I read this comic book that my buddy Adian posted a link to and it said that the God of love is going to send you to burn in a lake of fire for not accepting his love. Now go back to your idol worship of some celeb. and watch your american idol but know that in the great book in the sky that names are written in red ink as well as blue but not black for Jesus was white you know, my friend with the confederate friend told me so, and that ink is not washable unless you get yourself baptised or was it the other way around. Got to find that comic book link again.
Pagen? Pagen? Nobody has ever called me a pagen. But seriously, I have never had problem one with Jesus' teachings. The problem I have is with those people that pretend to speak for him. I'd worship rocks before I'd listen to anything said about Jesus in "Christian" churches today. It seems to be much more about hate than love. Who needs that?
My father was a true Christian. Born Swedish Luthern. Big strong guy. Baptised as an adult by Billy Graham. Lived the word. Nicest most honest man in the world. He stopped going to church for the reasons you speak of.
Your father sounds like a great person. I grew up in Minnesota with a lot of Swedes and Lutherns. They were very no-nonsense pragmatic people.
I would suggest one find a church that shares their faith/beliefs & not waste a minute on one that doesn't.
Thanks, better man then I will ever be and a great father who I try to follow for my sons. And if a happy birthday to you Moen, I believe you said your birthday is around today.
Thank you sir! I appreciate the sentiment. I think that there is probably more of your dad in you than you think. I have worked hard to be the opposite of my dad and I still see things in my personality that were part of his. You are lucky to have such a great role model. Too many of us didn’t have that in our lives growing up but we should all try to rise above our upbringing.
