Elizabeth Warren, countering institutional greed and crony capitalism with a message the naïve corporate apologists here are unable to hear.

I have a feeling that maybe 50 or 60 years ago what she is saying would have been considered commonplaces. But now we know better and recognize her for what she is: A RADICAL LEFTIST.

I think the attitude during WWII was one of shared sacrifice and for the good of the country. Today, it is greed, mine, mine, mine, and I got mine and everyone else. The power elite actually take pride in their selfish greedy materialism and forget that we are all in this together. Our parents and their parents sacrificed so that we could have it better. This concept is mocked by those that feel they deserve all the privilege they were handed. Money engenders a righteousness and arrogance that our forbearers would be discussed by.
We cannot survive as a country if this class war is allowed to whittle us down to only the haves and the have-nots. It is shortsighted to think that the masses will actually tolerate this radical concept of America. People will rise up as they always have and demand a more equitable system and I wouldn't want to be in their way on the day this happens.

Viva la revolution (That's just to piss off the Righties)

I agree with your sentiments but I have maybe a slightly different take on them. I believe that class warfare or rather class conflict is both inevitable and can be healthy. It keeps each side involved and makes it difficult for one side or the other to take total control. It's when class conflict is essentially banned that we have problems. And when this happens in this country it's usually to the detriment of the working class. When both sides know that they have a voice and have power that is when they can come together as equals in emergencies such as WWII.

When I heard she was running for Senate, my first reaction was to make another donation to the Scott Brown Re-election Campaign Fund. lol

Just more class warfare is all it is. The subtle message is distain for the successful because they don't hand the fruits of their labor right back over to the state for redistribution to those who haven't been as successful. It's a rally cry for people who just aren't deep of thinkers and who are envious of those who took the risk & put it all on the line.
Ever notice that virtually every leftist begins their diatribe with a level of fake support for what they are about to rail against? In this case, the lady says "God bless you for building the factory but......" Those who are anti-2nd amendment (such as moen) begin their rants with "I support the right to bear arms but......". Even abortion advocates claims "I am against the murder of babies but.......". I guess they teach these insidious tactics in school?

Like I predicted, a message the naïve corporate apologists here are unable to hear. :(

    Who isn't hearing the message?
Just what is this "social contract" exactly? Are you trying to say that no company gives back? I would be willing to wager these business's the left loves to hate are the biggest benefactors of charities, hospitals, schools, etc.
Here's a question the leftists won't answer.....Exactly how much would you require a business or business owner to turn over if you were making the rules?

I love that she gets under the Con's skin just by telling them the truth.

She is a lot more compelling than the last candidate the Democrats threw at Scott Brown.

Shouldn't she be saying 'that we all paid for' instead of 'the rest of us paid for'? It's not like the 'rich' and the 'factory builders' didn't pay for those things also. And probably paid a good percentage of it too. It almost seems like she is going for a (the rest of) Us vs Them thing with her chosen wording. Nawwwww, that can't be it. ;)

What she is advocating is a collective. The ideal sounds like a utopia to some but it never works because human nature is never factored in.

She's running for the Senate in Massachusetts, that kind of stuff will play well here.

Can you explain this "social contract" to us?

Oh! Ok. So this is why you can't wait to run out and vote for Obama in 2012. I found it!

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/general-electric-paid-federal-taxes-2010/story?id=13224558

"2010 was the second year in a row that GE recorded billions in profits and paid no taxes.

During that same period, Immelt has been a close advisor to the president on the business community, a relationship that rubs some the wrong way. Immelt serves as the chairman of Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness."

Like bringing all the troops home and closing Guantanamo, I"m sure this WILL be dealt with harshly and addressed........in 2013 of course.

....and all the while, Immelt is developing new technology with the Chinese, designed to compete against jobs and industry in the US.
How does BO decide which big business interests to cozy up to? Immelt dodges taxes & buddies up with China while BO's little pet green projects turn out to be merely scams.
