Yeah, didn't Gore, BO & Biden each have some 'splaining to do in regards to their very feeble chariatable efforts?
Do you get all your research from television shows? Is 20/20 now your source for empirical research? Why not just go to the ever "Fair and Balanced" Fox so called News channel for your research? Too funny! Besides, giving money while blaming people for their own situation isn’t exactly demonstrating empathy. It’s actually kind of condescending and arrogant. It’s really more of a tax deduction.
Please feel free to post your own sources of information. Television was simply the medium that presented the information. Attacking television as the medium is like shooting the messenger; it makes absolutely no sense. Your attack, quite honestly, gave me quite the chuckle. Regardless, Arthur C. Brooks is the economist quoted in the article from 20/20. Here is a link to his Wikipedia page in case you're interested in his credentials: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_C._Brooks Who is blaming people for their "own situation"? Where in the world did you come up with such an asinine statement? Just off the top of your head? Oh well, that explains it. Never mind.
Arthur C. Brooks, a professor at Syracuse University, published "Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism." The surprise is that liberals are markedly less charitable than conservatives.Oh, and another surprise. It is a LIBERAL university professor who did the study
I always smile when I see this kind of thing. Wealthy Republicans insisting they give more money than other people. I don't doubt it, they do have more money to give after all. But what I rarely see a wealthy Republican do is quote the percentage of their income that they give to charities. The reason? Maybe the percentage they give is lower than the percentage that other groups of people give. That kind of information gets ignored. I wonder why.
Actually, those issues are addressed in the article. In the article it states: 1. Conservative-headed families make slightly less money. 2. Conservatives give about 30 percent more (than non-conservatives). So, the information you seek has been provided; no one is ignoring it. In fact, I've presented it so all may see.
Not really, conservatives and non-conservatives maybe, but there is no mention of percentages of income. It's not a thorough report, it's focus is on how rich people give a larger amount of money away and ignores the percentage in relation to income. It's a half-truth.
Hahah... as far as wealth is concerned, what's the difference between a wealthy Conservative and a wealthy Liberal? Well, it appears that the wealthy Conservative gives more. You also said that Republicans have more money to give. I asked for proof of your statement. So far, I haven't received an answer...... will I?
You're missing my point. Whether the person is a conservative or liberal wasn't it. My comment was: "Wealthy Republicans insisting they give more money than other people. I don't doubt it, they do have more money to give after all." You previously asked for proof of this statement and above you left out the 'wealthy' part.
Coin posted some info a few days back... look for all the large colored letters... not saying he uses a crayon but I found this earlier: < ) ))) crayola ))) )
Don't get me started on crayons. I lusted after the 64 pack when I was little but my parents thought that 64 was a luxury so I earned some money feeding and caring for pets for neighbors who were away, or who were working 48 hours a day and shouldn't have had pets to begin with and as soon as I'd made enough money, which I did easily on my first "pay day" I bought a box and then couldn't make myself use them for about a week because they were so pristine and beautiful. And the pet thing developed into a reliable although not huge source of income until I got out of high school. The art I produced with the crayons never sold, but I think I was and still am ahead of my time in that respect.
I guess I can try to explain what happened on this thread... ...Last time on As the Stomach Churns... Peter had an issue with David's sig-line or something and edited it. David questioned why, and must have reposted it. Peter didn't like that, so David had a few hours of free time away from the site. When he returned, he wanted to learn more about why it was an issue, eventually authoring this thread... ...After that my memory gets a bit fuzzy. Something about so-and-so fathering a child by such-and-such... I think a long lost son, having been lost in a ghetto in Brazil for 21 years is found and after about a week becomes the vice-president for a large multi-national headed by his father, speaks perfect English now of course...
