    If you're on the Right, you probably see this country moving towards Socialism. If you're on the Left, you probably see this country moving closer to Fascism. But which is the truth? Do we have a government with an economic system in which the means of production are either state owned or commonly owned or do we have a government that promotes a corporatist economic system where the state and economic producers work together to set national economic policy?

    Offer proof of your position by citing examples of either Socialist government policy or Fascist governments policy. See if you can demonstrate a long-term trend.

    Kind of a loaded question, isn't it? Just how do you connect removal of interfering government controls to equate to any of the more common definitions of Fascism?

    There are certainly many definitions of both Socialism and Facsism one can find. The question I asked is using the definitions as I have defined both types of "economic systems" not "political systems". Based on the definitions I have given, which are certainly valid, which direction are we headed?

    The question as phrased above is unanswerable because;
    1) your definitions as just that - YOUR definitions and because.
    2) Because we may (or may nor) be "moving towards" does not mean "we have".
    3) YOUR definitions are not opposites nor exclusionary. It is my opinion that it is both desirable and preferable to have some of both, just that we are leaning too much towards a "government marked by centralization of authority".

    This is a fairly simple exercise laid out with very simple parameters. If that is too much for you to comprehend, you don't have to play.
    1) My definitions are my definitions --- CORRECT
    2) Because we may or may not be moving towards does not mean we have -- I DIDN"T SAY IT DID
    3) YOUR definitions are not opposites nor exclusionary. I NEVER SAID THEY WERE

    Neither Socialism nor Fascism. We're still Capitalistic and still headed in that direction.

    You initial question was;
    "Do we have a government with an economic system in which the means of production are either state owned or commonly owned or do we have a government that promotes a corporatist economic system where the state and economic producers work together to set national economic policy?"
    Just how can I answer if it is one or the other when it is both? The answer I gave you above (the part you did not bother to copy) is still valid IMO. BTW, the quotation marks you also left off your copy of my words were there to indicate they were your words.

    According to those definitions of Socialism and Fascism, I would say both. And that the current President is obviously a Socialist Fascist. Examples:

    This sure seems like the state and economic producers working together to set national economic policy

    And the never ending stimulus programs are certainly moving towards a system in which the means of production are either state owned or commonly owned.

    Of course, since the definitions provided are very limited and quite simplistic attempts at defining the 2 ideologies, a discussion of which way the country is actually heading is really not able to be discussed realistically.

    If the Right turns right far enough and the Left turns left far enough they end up meeting face to face at which point they either try to kill each other or sit down and try to figure out how to divvy things up.
