Now China is openly establishing a sphere on influence in our hemisphere: http://www.cnbc.com/id/44494281
...wait 'till they build bigger fleets of military ships, and impose their will with even more force than they do now... it'll happen sooner or later...
Investing a trillion dollars in the US debt wasn't enough to realize they are establishing a sphere on influence in our hemisphere?
Okay, so let’s see here. The United States maintains 38,000 land-based troops in Japan and 11,000 navel personnel are based there as well as part of the US 7th Fleet. In Korea we maintain similar troop levels. Are we bothered that China has considered both Japan and Korea to be part of its inner sphere of influence for centuries before the United States was even a gleam in some Enlightenment Liberal’s eye? No. Additionally, we have de facto diplomatic relations as well as trade ties with Taiwan, which China considers a renegade province. What would we do if China gave similar recognition to Puerto Rican separatists? And yet we freak when China starts making overtures to Caribbean and Latin American countries with a view toward increasing financial and business ties. I mean we’ve never done anything like that before, have we? Bout time America got over its paranoid xenophobia and realized that we aren’t the only big kid on the block and that somehow we’ll probably be able to deal with it. Just as we have through much of our history http://www.usfj.mil/ http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/dod/usfk.htm
To be clear though, this isn't "our" hemispere... I mean China IS in the same hemishere as us. And so is all of Europe, Russia, etc.
Do you think we are the same as the Chinese? Do we have the same motives & track record of the Chinese? I mean it's not like the Swiss are moving in.
Well help me out here. Since you apparently know the motives and the track record of the Chinese in this regard explain them to me.
Then why did you ask? If you are that uninformed on world events you should have just taken it upon yourself to do a little reading. Geesh.
So in other words you don't know and I'm supposed to do your homework for you. Either that or you already have the information at hand but you feel that there is no need to let the rest of us in on what you've found out.
Nope, not what I said. I believe it is common knowledge China is evil....that was a point I really didn't think needed much more explanation. The point of this thread wasn't to get you up to speed, you'll have to do that legwork for yourself. Now, if your point is to dispute China is evil why don't you simply say so?
It's about as evil as any other country, but the general population is just about as good as any other country's population. But by calling China evil, you eliminate the possiblity of a healthy relationship with it, and that bad relationship will eventually turn into war. 'Demonizing' is the easiest thing to do, but has no good merits.
Why sugar coat it? China isn't exactly a benevolent democracy....just ask anyone in the country who speaks out politically or wants daughters or wants to own a pet. Libs bash China on issues such as pollution & worker's right but here it seems almost as if you two are somehow defending them. Why is that?
Well for one I doubt very much if the entire population of China is evil, I have never seen any evidence to support such a claim care to supply some? after all you are the one making the claim
I know I am the odd man out here, but could you please show me just where David say anything about "the entire population of China".
