He has not even finished it yet. You have to wait until next week to find out how he is not going to pay for it.
First, it provides a tax cut for small businesses, not big corporations, to help them hire and expand now, and provides an additional tax cut to any business that hires or increases wages. Second, it puts more people back to work, including up to 280,000 teachers laid off by state-budget cuts, first responders and veterans coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan, and construction workers repairing crumbling bridges, roads and more than 35,000 public schools, with projects chosen by need and impact, not earmarks and politics. And, it expands job opportunities for hundreds of thousands of low-income youth and adults through a new Pathways Back to Work Fund that supports summer and year round jobs for youth; innovative new job training programs to connect low-income workers to jobs quickly; and successful programs to encourage employers to bring on disadvantaged workers. Third, it helps out-of-work Americans by extending unemployment benefits to help them support their families while looking for work and reforming the system with training programs that build real skills, connect to real jobs and help the long-term unemployed. It bans employers from discriminating against the unemployed when hiring, and provides a new tax credit to employers hiring workers who have been out of a job for over 6 months. Fourth, it puts more money in the pockets of working and middle class Americans by cutting in half the payroll tax that comes out of every worker's paycheck, saving families an average of $1,500 a year’ and taking executive action to remove the barriers that exist in the current federal refinancing program (HARP) to help more Americans refinance their mortgages at historically low rates, save money and stay in their homes. Last, the plan won’t add a dime to the deficit and is fully paid for through a balanced deficit reduction plan that includes closing corporate tax loopholes and asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share.
The Cons seem to think that they can spend their way into oblivion and cut their way to prosperity. Their failed trickle down supply-side theories have been discredited to the point where they don't even bother defending them anymore, they just advocate for them. They should stop calling their behavior anything else except The Big Con because that is all it amounts to.
But face it, most of this plan is just extensions of things that are going to expire or have expired from the first stimulus and the second stimulus (Aka the bush/Obama tax compromise). It's becoming like a never ending thing. Like a short term tax cut that is never allowed to expire. Groundhog Day. Deja vu all over again.
Except that, "First, it provides a tax cut for small businesses, not big corporations" Which is exactly why no Cons will suppport it.
Small business weren't ineligible before, were they? So it is the same kind of 'hire people and you get tax breaks' plan from 2010 but just less businesses are eligible for it? Ok... And, truthfully, I am quite dubious that tax breaks for hiring people works as any kind of real economic boost. Hiring someone is a long term, large expense that I don't see a relatively small, one time tax break having a much of an effect on.
Can anyone tell me exactly how this program will be paid for? BO seemed to go into great detail about a lot of things but he really didn't present solid evidence of how it would be paid for....I'm not talking about the vague "tax the rich" bumper sticker. And obviously the spending cuts over 10 years (which may or may not ever happen) don't pay for his plan today. Anybody?
He is going to have the Super Committee find 450 billion more in budget cuts. Which begs the questions...'If there are 450 billion more in budget cuts able to be found, why do we need this new stimulus to find them? If they are already there shouldn't we cutting them anyway, stimulus or not? Is that really paying for the new stimulus?'' It is like saying you are going to pay for healthcare by cracking down on Medicare fraud...you should have been cracking down on Medicare fraud anyway.
Sad. BO talked up this proposal for a month & this is the best they could do? C'mon, lefties, you gotta be seeing how inept the guy is by now!
Don't care to listen to what he has to say, know enough from what I see. A middle east that is turning more islamic milant but what the media is presenting as democratic. The near east with Turkey and Iran included that can explode into an all out war in the coming weeks or months. A home state that is near depression if not in one. A nation that seems to be killing itself with overspending and mismangement. A nation that is totally corrupt for their is no govenment oversight of government or business. A two party system that encourages its members to hate each other whereas to me they have merged into the same. Troops still protecting or involved in nation building in places where the people hate us. No, no need to watch when all one has to do is look and see.
