I was just pointing out that the title of the video, "Union Protestors Disrupt Special Olympics" is apparently somewhat less than accurate. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it also seems to me that the reason for posting it was to try to paint peaceful protestors as union thugs. That's all I was responding to. I have said nothing about the merits or lack thereof of their cause.
And it occurs to me that I was remiss in not providing some background for the picture in the OP. Here's a link if anyone is interested. http://ehistory.osu.edu/osu/mmh/1912/labor_problem/causes1.cfm
Oh! But it is 100% accurate. They probably went home and kissed their kid good night also, but that does not mean that they did not disrupt the special Olympics.
Well in your mind maybe, but apparently not in the minds of the alleged disruptees. Maybe someone needs to tell them they were disrupted. They don't seem to know it.
That Governor sucks. I think he has a nazi element to him and in another time or place would have served the party state to its fullest measure. With that said, this was a Special Olympics event what is wrong with those protestors. Are they nuts or just blind to proper conduct and appropriate behavior in social settings. Wonder what the Kennedy family, not the drunken/killin ones, would think.
I agree with you that it was inappropriate. I wouldn't have done it. But there appears to be no evidence that the protestors were disrupting anything. At least the official spokesperson for the Special Olympics doesn't think they were. I think she used the words "respectful" and "peaceful".
Well thank you. We do plan on having a happy Labor Day. The week-end has been very nice so far. I hope that the RWers are similarly enjoying themselves and are not forgetting to thank the unions for this late summer tradition.
...no, I was laughing 'cause he keeps spelling things funny ...(whispers)...not his fault though, he's a Brit! ...(To the stinkin' Brit)... Hey Orc, ever play snooker? I used to play a lot of pool (8-ball mostly) but we don't have snooker tables here. I finally found a decent computer version that allows for a more realistic play and am in love with the game now lol
So what you are saying is that is is OK to trespass, break the laws, and violate others rights so lon as you have a point (but my guess is that it is limited to a left point to pass your muster).
Isn't Labor Day really celebrating the day the British planted Easter eggs at the graves of the fallen veterans of the great war of 1052 A.D. in South America? HAPPY LABOR DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!
You might as well drop it Taki. He is off in his own "special" reality again. I never got a coherent answer out him regarding his question of discrimination nor can I figure out how one trespasses on public property, nor could I figure out which laws were broken, nor can I figure out what "rights" were violated during this protest, but it always comes back to criticism of the Left for some reason. I guess if you stand up for yourself and workers rights in any situation you must be strictly from the Left. For some reason, I can accept that assumption.
You know I was thinking about the nonsense you hear from some of these Christian groups that say that people who aren't Christian shouldn't be celebrating Christmas. Now if we extended that nonsense to Labor Day, shouldn't rimmy be forbidden from having Labor Day off or even being able to have a BBQ on Monday? Why should someone like him get a paid day off when all he does is rail against the rights of workers in this country while enjoying the benefits they fought for and won so he could have a 5-day work week, paid vacations, sick time, a safe working environment, and child labor laws to protect his kids? Just sayin'.
And only Veterans should get Veterans Day off and only those who have lost a relative in a war should get Memorial Day off and only Presidents should get Presidents Day off.
Trespassing; From Takiji's link http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/crime_and_courts/article_94a2b5fa-a0bc-5d69-9097-55ff3de76569.html#ixzz1X0YNpJmx violating laws; It might help if you bothered to read what you are talking about.
I'd stay inside your house during Boxer's Day if I were you. They (boxers) get pretty punchy around then.
