I really do not think you need worry about draining the lakes faster than the water can be replenished. They drain about 4,000 gallons per day for every man, woman and child in the US and Canada combined. I am sure your endeared red tape has a lot more to do with pollution and wild life habitat than draining the lakes.
Your opinion. But I trust my understanding of the overall situation in my area, and the World, when it comes to water lol You probably have some understanding, but I'd suggest you research water-resources and management to get a better grasp of the problems we are facing. Not the junk opinions of the crazies mind you (which may apply to my previous comments lol), I'm talking about the measurements taken by hydrologists and such. They publish their data frequently and it should be relatively easy to find.
Actually, I've done the research and looked at the data, then came to conclusions based on that data...which I suggest you do too, it's obvious you haven't lol By the way, part of being an independant thinker means you HAVE to be open-minded. If I ignore information I wouldn't be able to learn from it, and I have no intention of being ignorant.
4,000 GPD is not an opinion, that is a fact and that is not even including Lake Ontario. If you think it is wrong, show me.
You said; "They drain about 4,000 gallons per day for every man, woman and child in the US and Canada combined." in reference to the drained output of the Great Lakes. I didn't agree or disagree with that number, I'm calling; "I am sure your endeared red tape has a lot more to do with pollution and wild life habitat than draining the lakes." your opinion. I do agree that the lakes are safe for now. I'm agreeing with you there. I mearly mentioned that in the far-future, more than several generations away, water-needs will be an issue for the lakes. The data I mentioned is about current water-usage though. The projections are for the next 30 to 50 years when (potable) water will become a major issue across the U.S. though water has been an issue in the U.S. since at least the 70s lol The other thing is that it's the Mississippi River that has more to fear in the short-term than the Great Lakes ...as sources of water dry up or become unusable it'll be tapped first.
Here is your initial comment and the part I disagree with with my facts My facts kind of make that statement nonsensical. I am sure that is an opinion, although I would bet it is true
Ahhh, but you only pointed out one piece of data, that of the volume that is drained out per capita. There are other equally important factors that need to be presented for even a vague understanding of the state of the lakes. The simple version includes what's put in (through rainfall) and what is removed (naturally and commercially). Then you add other variables like time and expected consumption, weather, etc. Then add actual measurements through time and patterns begin to appear. Now, bear with me a bit longer, the patterns I'm talking about are in regard to the U.S. and the World's water sources as a whole. They are in steady decline. The reason I said the Great Lakes will eventually be little more than a mud puddle is because of that decline. There are other uncertainties that must be accounted for though before my prediction could become a reality. Disasters are actually quite predictable and I accounted for most of them, though my bias is that I'm accounting for humanity to thrive despite them, while the reality is probably worse. So yes, taking a statement such as "the lakes are in danger of being drained" and looking at it through a generation or two's eyes may justify calling that statement ludicrous, but I DID say the real danger wouldn't come for several hundred years... barring a major global event lol ...I'm sad now...lol
Your figure of 4,000 gallons per day, per everyone in the U.S. and Canada combined... isn't a small amount...
When you are in love with the idea of Capitalism, then that sounds great! As long as I can make a buck off of something right? ...one of the reasons I'm poor, I am not interested in taking advantage of everything I can just to make a buck... ...my soul isn't for sale lol
Awww man! Just a "loser", whining and complaining about your unfortunate circumstances, no doubt! A "business" failure, and simply jealous. LOL
But if you were the employer, you could help make it better. You don't have to work. You just put some numbers in a calculator, right?
Well, manning the laptop with the labor cutting application would be my first priority as an employer. CEO change? Throats cut, lives ruined. Ever know of a CEO to come in and congratulate everyone for doing great work and NOT cut throats? I haven't. Your party applauds them though. Something wrong with that picture.
But that is why you need to become one. Just think how well you could do being the only good employer.
