Oh where to start? If by "big business" you mean the huge global companies, they can take care of themselves. Our only obligation to them is to create a welcoming envirornment so that they want to locate their business in the US (which spawns so many other benefits). You are correct when you say businesses arein it for their own benefit. Duh. But in most cases, when a company benefits so do numerous other people (jobs) and businesses. I'm sure you've heard the saying "a rising tide lifts every vessell"? This is where trickle down works.

 

It answers my question but seems very PC to me. If you are actually objective about his performance as President, why have you never criticized him on this forum? He has done plenty to deserve criticism. Personally, I don't like harsh criticism of the President. IMO, it makes the US look foolish to the international community. Too many people in this country think that those on the opposite aisle of the political spectrum are their enemy. The truth is that our real enemies are in other countries and we basically let them hurt us without even putting up a fight because we are too busy fighting with ourselves.

 

They are simply repaying those that gave them campaign contributions. And before you start gloating, come to the realization that the democrats do the exact same thing. They are all corrupt because they were all bribed before they got there.

 

Actualy if you look I have critizised him on more than one occassion but unfortunatly most people on this forum only see what they want to see and not what is somtimes actualy written
The diiference is I dont critizise simply for the sake of it, even prior to his nomination I spoke out that I woudnt have voted for him as he reminded me way too much of our own ex Prime Minister Tony Blair who for some unfathamoble reason was the darling of the press in the US LOL (and him a Socialist as well), I have stated on many times that I am a Conservative and on a number of occassions been called everything from a Socialist to a Communist simply for disagreeing with some of the more outlandish statements made round here of course one of the other reasons I dont critizise him continualy is that I can see that he is making a effort to set things right that is one of the things about been a outsider looking in I am not blinded by party politics
Many of you dislike the fact that I will stand up and support the man against unwarrented attacks well so be it LOL

...but my comments were more a response to other comments on this site about how big business should be given more incentives and money, 'cause they got skeered and won't spend money 'till their diaper gets changed and they feel more secure. I'm saying we coddle them too much, and have given them too much power over us. Time for a spanking...

 

I have looked, have been here for 2 years. Never once have I seen you criticize Obama. Stating that you would not have voted for him is not criticism. The reason you get called a socialist is because you support Obama and his policies across the board. And the only way you can consider yourself a conservative is if you are compared to the die hard socialists in your country. In the US, you would certainly be classified as left wing liberal whether you like it or not.

Do you even recognize that you agree with Moen (the most liberal forumite) and disagree with David (the most conservative forumite) almost without exception?

I didn't buy the premise. Why would I answer a question based on a lie. Wouldn't that just be lending a lie some level of credibility?
And if I was never able to get you to acknowledge my request for you to provide proof of your assertion (lie) that universities dupe naïve students into taking out huge student loans, why would I start jumping to your demands?

I disagree with David because of his extreem views not because he is conservative (as I dont actualy think he is a conservative) and if you wish to believe what you do then sorry but I havn't realy got the time to dig posts up just to try and disprove you

I certainly did not believe that my supporting John McCain last time round classed me as a liberal or the fact that I thought Mrs Palin might have made a good VP but LOL I am after all talking to you am I not, I think in the entire time I have known you on this forum you have only once given any credit to President Obama that was meant and that was the removal of Bin Laden (you might recal Davids comments about him cowering in a corner, thats how objective David is LOL)
Nor do I allways support Moem as you claim but again it is what you wish to see so I wont try to convince you otherwise LOL perhaps you might like to post a link to any of the posts that have attacked President Bush showing were I have supported them? after all if I am a left wing Liberal that would be a given woudnt it? or how about any attacks I have made on the current crop of hopefuls standing for the Republican nomination? again if as you say I constantly agree with the left I am sure I must have at least done that much?
What I am quite willing to conceed is that I have not attacked President Obama in the way that most of you on the extreem right do, perhaps this is what you dislike?

 

In what way am I "extreme"? I stand for personal responsibility & self-reliance and will speak out against anyone I see as a detriment to this country. Is that extreme in your book?

Well as far as President Obama is concerned David I would relagate you to the Tom fringe and I have actualy told you this before so it shoudnt come as any great suprise to you.
When you discuss most any other topic there is a degree of lucidity that is missing in discussions about the President
You come across as a fanatic david rather like Tom and that is sad

 

...oh, but my criticism is always specific and I am always willing to detail what it is that he says or does to make me question him or his motives. My question, concerns & criticism are always my own unlike tom (or moen,phd) who has his opinions heaped on him by the far left media & canned talking points.

No David I answer questions when asked unlike you who avoid answers at all costs, remember claiming that President Obama was cowering while watching the assault on Bin Laden! and that is just one instance how about the day after he was elected asking why the economy was not now ok and when you were pulled on it claiming it was a joke! If I had the time I could fill a page with the things you have said
