BO wants to raise our taxes $1 trillion???

What do you see as a viable replacement to capitalism?

 

I think this country consists of a little bit of capitalism and socialism. A relatively good balance. I mean we arent animals just grabbing the bigger portion for ourselves.

 

Rotting in Hell will be what all immoral, decadent and evil people will eventually reside. If I make it there, perhaps you'll save me seat? I'm quite sure you'll be there with your current philosophy on life, and your admiration of the right wing.

 

Well, it's kind of like putting drug dealers out of work, disease spreading prostitutes out of work, or pedophiles out of work. All are useless drains on society, that serve no other purpose except to service evil. Sorry...doesn't make me feel real bad. If I choose to work for a local heroin pusher, then I should expect to be treated like a heroin pusher.

 

A busboy at an AC casino is servicing evil? And I'm not sure but I dont think pedophiles get paid for being so. Get some therapy man. Youre kinda hanging out there on the fringe without a lifeline.

 

So if casino hotel workers are agents of evil, what other industries do you think are useless drains on society? Let's make a list.

Alcohol producers?
Tobacco producers?
Gun manufacturers?
Sporting Goods Stores?
Nightclubs?
Restaurants that serve alcohol?
Playing Card Manufacturers?

Or do you want to skip the list and just say all companies are included because they are part of a capitalist system. BTW, economic system would you like to replace capitalism? Please remember we are members of a global economy.

 

I do not think Tom is really anti-Republican. I think he is anti-Capitalism and anti-Wealth. There are plenty of social issues where he would be considered in lock-step with the far right Republicans. I believe that if he had been born into a business family, he'd have a Bachmann/Santorum bumper sticker on his pickup truck.

 

I think if the busboy knowingly works for immoral and indecent entities like casinos, he becomes part of it, and isn't much better than the drug pusher or casino he works for. Claiming that he was just washing the needles doesn't fly.

Alcohol producers...you mean like corporate giants like say, Budweiser, Miller? Evil, yes, but in a different capacity.
Tobacco producers...the farmers? No, just stupid. RJ Reynolds or the like? Definitely evil.
Gun manufacturers. No. Guns can be used for good things..it's the idiots using them or doing evil with them that are truly evil.
Sporting goods stores? Ummmm..ok...I'll say no.
Nightclubs? In AC casinos? Yes. Everywhere else? No.
Restaurants that serve alcohol...no, as long as they don't buy it from evil corporations.
Playing card manufacturers? No. I like "go fish".

Well, I don't have a solid one at this point, except to say remove laws regarding corporations as a "person"..better yet, break them into multiple pieces and limit their size. Remove incentives for American companies to go overseas. Make companies accountable to somebody besides their stockholders. Severely reduce or eliminate mergers, takeovers, etc. Eliminate NAFTA. Make lawbreakers of all previous criminally liable and all inclusive, with mandatory sentences.

I've been away, and maybe I missed it, but has BO offered any plan during these debt ceiling/cut spending discussions? I had a conversation with a guy on the plane who thought everything was Boehner's fault & thought every idea presented so far was crazy. I asked him to tell me exactly what BO was proposing & he could not. My guess is that this guy represents most on the left.

 

Yes, he has offered a great plan, Increase the taxes on millionaires, billionaires, and hedge fund operator, get rid of the deduction for private planes, claim that makes it "balanced", and then blame the Republicans. Maybe that is why even poor old Harry decided to go out on his own.

 

I heard a bunch of that crap he was spewing but I don't believe that was really a proposal, I took that as more of his attempt to create a class warfare. You know, it's his "style" to create a scary villian. And as anyone with sense knows, if he gets his wish to raise taxes he certainly won't stop at the millionaires...he'll spread that misery to everyone.

Whats wrong with increasing taxes on billionaires? And millionaires? I mean how does that affect you? Unless you are a billionaire? And getting rid of private jet deductions; how is that bad for you? For what its worth, he wants to increase taxes for those making over 250,000 as well. Maybe most in here make that and more. I dont know. But its just part of an overall plan. And no matter what taxes will need to increase sooner or later. You just cant whittle the Govt. down to three departments. Thats unrealistic. And that creating jobs thing doesnt fly. No body is creating jobs. Its just a cycle of ''becauses''.
