You can come out of the closet about your secret love for the President, it's okay, we know. As for the rest of your post, are you drunk?
Interesting... A full 67% of Americans favor a deal to raise the debt ceiling that includes taxes on wealthy individuals and corporations, according to a poll released Thursday by Quinnipiac University. And according to Gallup, only 20% of Americans want a deal that consists only of spending cuts. Republican tax stand a bust with public - Jul. 14, 2011
I guess we have dueling polls. "Just 27 percent of Americans support raising the debt limit, while 63 percent oppose raising it." And that is by CBS - not exactly the ultra conservative media. Funny, but they do not even say who did your poll. Poll: Most Americans oppose raising debt limit - Political Hotsheet - CBS News
What you posted is an entirely different question than the polls I posted. But if that large of a percentage want a default, we are really screwed. And the people who did the polls i posted, which are about how the budget deal/debt ceiling raise should be done, are in the quotes I posted.
Sorry I missed Gallop. Different questions! But really, "A full 67% of Americans favor a deal to raise the debt ceiling" versus "63 percent oppose raising it". That totals 130% of the Americans to me - and it is not like we are talking mediamatters versus the John Birch Society.
Well, one good aspect of defaulting is the possibility of scrapping the monetary system and the way it is towards the non elitist. Perhaps if we can re-do the whole thing, there would be less of ultra wealthy controlling everybody and everything so completely and so corruptly. The system blows. Maybe it's time to get rid of it. Tear the whole thing down and start over, with the focus next time on the good of society as a whole, rather than the select few. As it stands now, the wealthy that already own everything lock, stock, and barrel, aren't going to change the "system" to go against themselves. Time to push reset perhaps. Maybe we can get it right next time.
Keep the mess we have or default? Not so tough a choice I don't think. Knock the blocks down and rebuild. Leave out the corporate pigs next time.
Surprising that you have not learned that you always dance with the devil that you know. You think that starting over will make things better? Guess what! In the grand scheme of things, you are a loser and any new system implemented will be designed to screw you worse than the one currently in place. You can bank on that.
Well, that's certainly one possibility. Another is that many corporate criminals will be smashed along the way too. Better for society as a whole, I think. Better for the next generation.
If the financial system collapses, you had better hope you have a large piece of property in a rural area, your own supply of gasoline, and a huge stockpile of weapons and munitions.
Maybe I do? The consequences will hit you AC types sooner for sure. Hope your casino takes in former employees as residents.
Well, the way I read the questions is that what you posted is 'should we raise the debt ceiling'. And what I posted was along the lines of 'what should the deal tied to raising the debt ceiling look like'. Not to mention that your poll was from April and mine were both from Wednesday and Thursday this week. I bet the number that think we should raise the debt ceiling vs those who don't has tightened up in the last 3-4 months.

At it's peak, the casino I work for employed almost 5,000 people. Currently, it employs 2,800. Perhaps you can name another industry that has lost over 40% of it's work force. Your constant bitching on this forum makes you forget that everybody has it tough these days, not just you. The difference is that we don't spend all of our time trying to find someone to blame. Most of us carry on, working as hard as we can to make things better. Give it a try sometime and maybe you will realize that scrapping the entire system and starting over is a terrible idea. If that doesn't work, try moving to Libya or Syria and you will quickly find out that you have absolutely nothing to complain about and that our economic and political system, however flawed, is one of the very best in the world.
Scrapping the entire system is the only way to fix it. That or get the ultra wealthy to reconstruct it to not benefit themselves. Good luck with that. I hope your casino loses 2800 more employees. It's no better than the vulture, bone picking corporate types you're so fond of. Another lesion on society that should be exterminated. Hookers, drugs, and pawn shops we can all live without quite easily. Scrapping the system is a wonderful idea. It's corrupt, lousy with fraud, exploitation, lack of morals, and full of greed and self indulgence, all of which is ruled by corporate tyrants and political wh*ores, pigs and profiteering scum. Good riddance to it all I say.
In my experience in life, those who claim to be morally superior are usually the most evil and least tolerant members of society. But just think, after you have wasted the remainder of your pitiful life, you will have the opportunity to rot in hell with the rest of the morally superior.
