Legalizing marijuana is a bipartisan effort!

The two legal ones (tobacco & alcohol) have killed millions more than all of the others combined. Why do you associate drug use with legality. Do you assume that if they are illegal that people don't use drugs? Wake up from your little dream world.

So, we should legalize more then? Great plan. Maybe we can do trillions after the introduction of several more.

What evidence can you provide that shows that death from drug use will increase by making them legal?

Sir. They died and went to jail to get away from you. Can you explain why you hung out with so many stupid people? The friends I partied with, include a meteorologist, a captain for American Airlines, a CPA, a lawyer(OK I'll give ya that one), a Secret Service agent, and a retired admiral. None have been in jail. And all are alive. Losers all.

Outstanding. You're the only loser amongst them then? Keep trying then and keep smoking pot. It'll make everything better. Smoke enough and you'll be successful one day too.

Actually thats pretty funny. But you still didnt explain why YOU hung with so many losers. And you still didnt answer if you drank beers before you were 21. And I'm not a loser. I just had my shopping cart chrome plated.

Don't look now but I just stole the mercedes hood ornament off your shopping cart and superglued it to mine. Was gonna buy one of my own, but I spent all my money on weed. See, weed does lead to a life of crime. Time to call Mr. Nice Guy! Cya at 420.

I hung with losers because I was a loser. They're dead or in jail and I'm still here. I drank and they did drugs. I quit and they died or went to jail. I drank when I was 16 actually. See? Drugs are great!

I know you're not a loser. Chrome plated shopping carts rule!

Bill Clinton would have said something like: "Yes, I drank... but I did not swallow."

The only comments I care to express on this subject are these:

When I was 19 my mom was dying of cancer. A few weeks before she passed she and I were alone and she asked me if I thought marijuana would help ease her pain. I wasn't smoking it at the time (though I had when I was younger) and told her that yes, it would, for I have suffered with chronic pain all my life and found that marijuana allowed me to live with the pain, and live a more normal life. I said that I would be willing to find some for her and give her the proper dose (very small to start with and increased incrementally as necessary). She decided not to try it, and I didn't push her to use it, but I am absolutely certain it would have made her last few weeks more bearable.

I am not burdened by guilt for having tried marijuana, nor for NOT providing it for my dying mother, but I AM burdened with the knowledge that foolish people in our society justify their ignorance of the medical uses of a substance that other foolish, ignorant people made illegal.

The law is wrong, of that I have no doubt... for I decided long ago to try not to be a foolish and ignorant person. I researched the reasons behind the laws regarding marijuana, and of it's historical uses. I HAVE used it, and find that I benefit greatly from it. If it wasn't for this incredibly ignorant law, I'd be healthier today... and in a great deal less pain. I choose not to use it since I live with 3 people who do not deserve to have UPSET (a local narcotics/SWAT-like team) break in our door and beat the **** out of us. I won't have that. So I put up with the pain, and I suffer needlessly.

These drug laws were created during a time when ignorance was the norm, and even intelligent people could be led to believe anything by the manipulation of the information they received (through the media of the day). Today we have the internet and a much more informed society. I cannot force anyone to use this tool to gain proper knowledge of the subject, but the true nature of marijuana is becoming clearer to more and more people every day... ignore it if you wish, it's your choice.

Personally, I look forward to the day I can ask my doctor for a prescription of marijuana. My state (Michigan) allows it for medical uses with a doctors ok, but I will not ask him unless it's legal on a federal level. The threat of being beaten or murdered by our local SWAT team has lessened, and there are no children under the age of 18 in our home anymore, but I will not put anyone I care about in possible harms way just to save myself from pain. I will say "**** you!" to all who propagate false information or enforce laws that are clearly unjustifiable. I have no fear for myself, but I damn those who have terrorized my family and others because of their ignorance.

I would have ZERO problems with you using it for the purposes that you stated. My issue is with the ying yang that wants to get buzzed up for entertainment. People that have a specific need for it as prescribed by a doctor, should be able to do so.

So why don't you have a problem with the legalization of liquor, which has no medicinal value?

Yeah, it's not actually a prescription ...they sign something saying there is a medical reason for the patient to use marijuana. This allows the patient to apply for a license (or whatever you wanna call it) from the state ($100 fee). Once you apply, you can legally find a supply on your own, the police have no right to harass you then.

Currently (in Michigan and other states) there are pot "stores" where you can buy it if you have the states ID card saying you can legally buy it. Several "stores" in my area are attempting to open, but the communities are doing everything they can to stop them. I'm in a very rural area and would guess one "store" every 100 miles or so.

That's fine on a state level, but the feds regularly raid the "stores" or "dispensaries' (whatever you wanna call 'em).

Actually, alcohol has profound medicinal properties and was often used prior to the advent of modern pharmaceuticals.
