Tom did you actualy read the MIT report that they linked there story to? Atmosphere Above Japan Heated Rapidly Before M9 Earthquake - Technology Review
I still say this can be used to predict earthquakes. If they can monitor the rising electron count in the ionosphere in real-time, then this could be used as an early warning for some earthquakes. From the data it looks like the count peaked about 3 days before the event.
They have been studying for years, if not decades, the effects on the atmosphere from the release of energy prior to earthquakes with an eye towards predicting earthquakes. The HAARP folks are getting the cause and effect reversed.
But HAARP has published information on it's website on it's experiments in artificially heating the ionosphere. There's also information about how they use the Earth's magnetic fields to accomplish it. Conspiracy theorists point out that it's possible this can be used as a weapon, though the evidence that it has been is mostly circumstantial. The big question is "Why?". Why would our government (or any other) want to use this as a weapon. The answer (the governments would have) is: "Why not?" If we have the technology, why not use it to our advantage? The difficulty, IMO, is proving that governments are using the technology as a weapon. I'm convinced the technology is advanced enough, and has been experimented with. I'm not convinced the use of that technology will have the results conspiracy theorists claim. I'm not sure what the measurable effects would be while energizing the ionosphere using HAARP technology, but I can't rule out anything either.
So instead of concluding that the seismic activity that precedes an earthquakes is responsible for the heating of the atmosphere via radiation emissions, you conclude that the heating of the atmosphere is the trigger for the earthquake. While responsible scientists are trying to use this kind of data to predict when and where earthquakes will occur, you would rather employ the information to support your crazy conspiracy theories. If you don't mind, please explain the scientific theory that links atmospheric temperature to seismic activity.
I would say, IMO, the heating of the atmosphere is more likely the result of an imminent earthquake, and not use of HAARP as a weapon. The point I made in post #9 is that the technology to artificially heat the ionosphere using HAARP is a published fact, from them. I went further to say I can't rule anything out regarding what effect that artificial heating has on the atmosphere, or the Earth. Deja vu ...didn't we already have this conversation? lol
I would have been wishing for an earthquake at that point... lol ...when I was in HS I ditched a mandatory opera thing the school hosted... it's not so much that I wouldn't have enjoyed it though... it was more of a middle-finger to the school lol
I'm no scientist, as you used to like to point out Lehigh. What I conclude is based upon what I head read, and the opinions of many, like plasma physicist Bernard Eastland, and others. What they can or can't do is classified, so, I tend not to rely on "official" sources.
There are people that think everything is a conspiracy, and there are people that everything is exactly as it is supposed to be. I'd imagine the truth is somewhere in between. HAARP is quite real. You have to go to sources outside this country to get any reliable information. The US is like China now...everything's filtered. The military has so many "off the record" black ops projects it would make a sane person's head spin. HAARP and Joplin? I don't know about all that but, I wouldn't dismiss it either.
That's your problem: You're imagining the truth. You made me laugh when you said "somewhere in between". Come on, you know you're about as much a fringe lunatic as there is with all your conspiracy crap. LOL
