Not really, these attacks appear to have been carried out by separatists in Pakistan. They want autonomy and resent America's attacks in "their" lands. But this particular attack was against Pakistan's capabilities to make war, and not the typical Taliban and Al-Qaeda "kill and destroy all" mentality. These terrorists had a game-plan, discipline, and considerable combat skills.

BBC News - 'New kind of militant' behind Pakistan Karachi attack

"The deadly 15-hour siege on Pakistan's Mehran naval airbase in Karachi on Monday was carried out by attackers with military-level training, raising suspicions they had inside help."

"The banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and Baloch separatists had claimed the responsibility of the attacks."

Yeah, I've been researching a lot of info on Pakistan's involvement with different sects/groups... they fund a lot of the terrorists that attack them... how dumb! (laughs)... Then again, America trained and armed how many future terrorists? ...Too many to name lol

The sheer number of separate groups and various affiliations between the Pakistani sects is mind-boggling... but I'm beginning to see the differences between them better. I'd hate to have to be the guy who had to keep all this chit straight, and explain it all to Hillary lol

I found an article about a reporter who was murdered in Pakistan, possibly by Al-Qaeda infiltrators in the ISI, the Pakistani Military Intelligence. Story below:

BBC News - Pakistani journalist Saleem Shahzad found dead

He had written an article for the Asian Times that stated there are members of Al-Qaeda who have infiltrated the Pakistani Navy. He wrote that the reason for the attack on the base was in response to the Navy's detainment of suspected Al-Qaeda operatives.

"Officials involved in the case believe the militants feared interrogation would lead to the arrest of more of their loyalists in the navy."

Full article at: Asia Times Online :: South Asia news, business and economy from India and Pakistan

So it looks like Al-Qaeda was involved in the attack, and had been trained by/ been part of the Pakistani military. IMO it explains the skills/tactics the attackers had used.

The reason why our relations with the government of Pakistan is so important is because their are parts of Pakistan that are not under the control of the government. This is proof of that.

I believe that but only because their are different factions within a large government.
