It is called State-sanctioned homicide to be precise and is not a crime in the eye's of the law just to add a bit more spice to this have you heard that the 4th son of OBL is planning to sue the US goverment for the Murder or abduction of his father? honest that is the story doing the rounds of some of the UK papers He is also calling for the release of his siblings etc
Oh I mispelled a word. Now I'll be called a liar by your compatriots. No I know nothing of the law. You're spitting hairs ain't ya? No you're not debating its justification, you're only using the word because its sounds worse than kill. And do you have ''evidence'' that Pakistan didn't give permission? I dont scan the internet for news so I can't say its there. But I read an AP piece in my local paper that stated that Pakistan knew we were coming. Have you ever mispelled a word? Ever?
These are quotes from the President on 60 minutes. I caught some of it including these parts and that is one reason I got the impression Pakistan did not give authorization. KROFT: You didn't tell anybody in the Pakistani government or the military. PRESIDENT OBAMA: No. KROFT: Or their intelligence community? PRESIDENT OBAMA: No. KROFT: Because you didn't trust? PRESIDENT OBAMA: As I said, I didn't tell most people here in the White House. I didn't tell my own family. It was that important for us to maintain operational security. KROFT: But you were carrying out this operation in Pakistan. PRESIDENT OBAMA: Yeah. KROFT: You didn't trust 'em? PRESIDENT OBAMA: If I'm not revealing to some of my closest aides what we're doin', then I sure as heck am not gonna be revealing it to folks who I don't know. and PRESIDENT OBAMA: Obviously, we're going into the sovereign territory of another country and landing helicopters and conducting a military operation. And so if it turns out that it's a wealthy, you know, prince from Dubai who's in this compound, and, you know, we've spent Special Forces in -- we've got problems. So there were risks involved geopolitically in making the decision.
I wonder why Pakistan isnt raising holy hell over it? Is deniability a factor here? I mean the Pakis go nuts if you wear the wrong hat. Yet no official objection. Strange. But if its true and they didnt know, well I was wrong. Its happen before and I'll be wrong again. But Their weak complaining tells me something different.
Like I said earlier, if there was an approval or agreement, we will never know about it. Pakistan would not want that out. And on the other hand, after harboring the guy for 5 to 8 years, they probably aren't going to risk pissing us off more by protesting too much if they didn't know we were going in. I think I did read of some moaning about it that day but it didn't seem to forceful. We will probably never know but the reasons the President gave for not telling them are pretty reasonable and I tend to think we never told them.
I don't believe that there is ONE Pakistan. I think Pakistan is made up of any number of competing factions and you simply can't talk about it as if it were one entity. One faction my have been very aware of what was happening while the rest were left in the dark. I think the U.S. strategy has been to cozy up to one of the factions and play them off of each other to our advantage. I think at this point everyone is playing the denial game in order to maintain their positions while those factions that got burned by our killing of bin Laden are trying to figure out exactly who burned them.
Well, you misspelled "homicide" a couple of times, so I was just making sure we were talking about the same thing. And, no, I'm really not splitting hairs. Homicide is homicide whether you commit it on your next door neighbor, a soldier commits it on an opposing combatant or a president orders it to be committed against a terrorist. In some cases, homicide is justifiable (someone breaking into your house and you shoot them or you witness an armed robbery in progress and shoot the offender, etc.). The fact is that you've still committed homicide in those instances, but the act is (or may be deemed) justifiable. However, I'm not going to debate whether or not Obama's authorization to commit homicide on bin Laden is justifiable or not.

As expected by anyone with a brain, Obama's poll numbers have slid according to this most recent poll. No No! Thank YOU!! WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Americans' disapproval of how President Barack Obama is handling the economy and its growing budget deficit has reached new highs amid broad frustration over the slow pace of economic recovery, according to a Washington Post-ABC New poll released on Tuesday. The ratings boost Obama received after the killing of Osama bin Laden has dissipated with his job approval rating back to 47 percent. Forty-nine percent disapprove of his performance. Obama's approval rating bounced to 56 immediately after bin Laden was killed last month. Fifty-nine percent, a new high, gave Obama negative marks for his handling of the economy, up from 55 percent a month earlier. Obama's approval rating on the deficit issue hit a new low of 33 percent, down 6 points since April. The state of the economy poses a huge challenge for the president, whose re-election in 2012 may depend on his ability to convince voters that his economic policies have been successful. The survey reflects a broadly pessimistic public mood as high gasoline prices, sliding home values and high unemployment numbers raised concerns about the pace of the U.S. economic recovery, The Washington Post said. Eighty-nine percent of Americans say the economy is in bad shape; 57 percent say the recovery has not started and 66 percent said the United States was seriously on the wrong track. Forty-five percent said they trust congressional Republicans over Obama to handle the economy, up 11 points since March. The poll shows Obama leading five out of six potential Republican presidential rivals but in a dead heat with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Among all Americans, Obama and Romney are tied at 47 percent each. Among registered voters, Romney is ahead 49 percent to 46 percent. Romney, the Republican front-runner, last week launched his second presidential campaign, saying Obama's economic policies were to blame for America's many economic woes. The poll of 1,002 adults was conducted June 2-5 and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. Obama's rating on economy hits new low: poll - Yahoo! News
Actually, Rasmussen & Quinnipiac polls both indicate Americans are losing confidence in BO's ability to deal with our economic woes (it doesn't help that BO's "numbers" have been proven false) and his job approval ratings are declining. The Dims loved to claim Repulican policy drove us into a ditch. Well, if this is true then you can't argue that BO policy has driven us off a cliff.
Aaaaaaaaaand, once again I (don't really) hate to burst Moen's bubble, but the facts speak for themselves. OBAMA'S APPROVAL NUMBERS HIT ALL-TIME LOW: http://news.yahoo.com/obama-approval-numbers-hit-time-low-185402373.html
