We WERE a country that didn't condone torture even of those that used torture against us.

I am not for water-boarding. However, the renditions to countries that use even more extreme tactics that have occurred are much, much worse. And, truthfully, I don't think we know all that is still ongoing under this administration...

We considered it torture when the Japanese did it to our guys. And we court-martialed US soldiers in the past who did it while questioning guerrillas in the Philippines.

 

Sometimes the Japs just put guys in a box for a few days. And sometimes they just beat the crap out of a guy. It didnt kill them. It just...What did David say? Oh yeah, ''caused temporary discomfort''. So was that considered torture? You bet your butt it was. US soldiers should be punished for doing such acts.

Amongst the right....possibly. The field is pretty weak (weak even as republican contenders tend to normally be).
In actually getting elected? Well....let's just say ummm...not really.

 

Yeah, just like the Donald was. He went from front runner to the human stone. Gingrich is just another Right wing self promoter interested in making a buck off of the system and the idea of public service for the good of the country is nonsense in his eyes. The guys ego is bigger than his head and that is sizable.

 

I believe Newt would absolutely destroy BO (if BO is the dim's nominee) in a head-to-head debate. Despite his personal shortcomings, Newt is a smart guy & wouldn't be afraid to attack BO on the issues...imagine BO stammering out all the "looks" and "umms" when Newt hammers him on issues that BO's teleprompter isn't prepared for.
I've already heard Newt say defeating BO should be easy for any Rep candidate. All they have to do is ask the voters if they want to re-elect the guy who forced Obamacare down our throats, spent us into so much debt our economy is on the verge of collapse, increased unemployment, raised taxes and bailed out his Wall Street cronies. Would anyone have voted for BO if they could have foreseen the results?

Newt is a progressive big government RINO, the type that stinks up the party. So is Mitt " Romneycare " Romney. I cannot even fathom a conservative supporting either of these two. They both turn my stomach.

It may take a cpl election cycles, but we need a true grassroots conservative. These professional politicians sicken me. I am sooo glad Huck dropped out.
