Seems he might well be announcing his run at the Presidency midweek according to the Washington Post Any comments?
I certainly doubt it. Craig is just being pesky, in other words just bein "craig". I, on the other hand, would sincerely like to know what you meant when you said our money was in the wrong hands (because it sounds kinda sinister).
Alright alright, you've waited long enough. It was just poorly phrased due to an all too quick drive-by post. What I meant was that all the money in the country has pooled at the very top of the economic ladder. You can't honestly believe that everyone at the top earned their way there? Some may have but many simply have bribed, cheated, stole, and lied their way to the top. I don't fault rich people. I fault wealthy people. They have too much power and influence and can slant the playing field in their direction far too easily. I don't believe in the myth of the self-made success story. I think it can happen but more often wealth is achieved through connections, bribes, and family money. Why should I or anyone else have any respect for that? Answer if you wish.
That comes across sounding jealous more than anything else. My opinion is that if it is their money..earned, inherited, whatever...then it's their money. No one has the right to re-distribute what rightfully belongs to another. If one's wealth is from a dishonest deed they need to be prosecuted. Obviously, I strongly disagree with your statement that creating your own success is a myth. Hard work, initiative & personal responsibility can get you pretty far in life. Now that I think of it, this exact sentiment (mine & yours) basically defines the difference in liberal & conservative thought, doesn't it? Liberal- People aren't capable of making their own way in life Conservative- It is our personal responsibility to make our own way in life
Again, do you honestly believe wealthy people can't buy their way into the halls of power, that they can't afford to pay for all the justice money can buy, and that they don't actively tilt the system in their own favor? Your problem is that you can't see the corruption behind the wealth. For some reason, you've convinced yourself that anyone who is wealthy worked their way into that wealth. Some probably do, but you'd have to be a naive idiot to think wealth doesn't buy you just a little bit of undeserved influence over the court system, the business world, or the political system in this country. Money and power corrupt plain and simple. You simply have to look at the Enrons, the Arthur Andersen’s, the entire Savings and Loan industry in the 1980's, Wall Street, Bernie Madoff, the banking industry, ... The list is endless of powerful corporations that have been exposed for corrupt business practices and it doesn't take a lot of imagination to figure that we probably don't scratch the surface of what really goes on in that world. The risk of getting caught is so small that it is worth taking because the rewards are so lucrative. Go ahead and believe that everyone that is wealthy got there honestly. I'll play the odds and bet the vast majority lied, cheated, bribed, and stole their way into wealth and just haven't been caught. I can believe people are basically good until money enters the picture and then all bets are off. The more the money, the less trust I put in my fellow man. This country is not by the wealthy, for the wealthy. It belongs to all of us and while some will always have more money than others, the ones that cheat the system at the top are far worse than those at the bottom that scam welfare for a couple of hundred bucks a month. That is the difference between conservatives and liberals. The Right focuses on those at the bottom living hand-to-mouth while the Left focuses on those at the top that prevent the people at the bottom from being able to climb the ladder out of poverty. You have no problem visualizing everyone at the bottom being lazy useless members of society yet you see everyone at the top as holier than thou incapable of any wrong doing. Why is it you can look at both groups with such rose colored glasses and not see the variety of people that occupy the top as well as the variety that occupy the bottom? Neither group can be defined as entirely black or white but you would never know that talking to you.
The differences between the left and the right is that the right wants to punish those who cheat the system and the left wants to punish everyone if anyone cheats. The left need to look at the other consequences of their desires.
It is that kind of party before country thinking that brought the GOP such a stellar field of candidates this time around. How's that working out for you?
What can I say. We did just kill Bin Laden. So you really like your choices on the Right? That first debate sure was a thriller. Herman Cain Gary Johnson Ron Paul Tim Pawlenty Rick Santorum Three former office holders, one pizza salesman, and the Ralph Nader of the Republican Party Ron Paul. You guys must be chomping at the bit to get to the polls in 2012 to vote for one these charismatic guys. Let's not forget Sarah "I quit" Palin, Newt "next wife please" Gingrich, Mitt "ain't no one in the south voting for me" Romney, and my personal favorite, Michelle "crazy eyes" Bachmann. Can't wait to see which one claws their way to the top of that dung heap. And just remember, we killed Bin laden.
