Can anyone support of deny this; Obama Hesitated I suspect it is propagande since I cannot find a first hand transcript nor a name to put with it.
Yeah, I guess I need to clarify. International Law vs U.S. Law. From what I see the argument seems more about whether or not the U.S. should have tried to capture him and put him on trial at the Hague (or somewhere else like Guantanamo). My opinion is no, and consider it legal. I think it was better that he be killed and not tried. IMO putting him on trial would have been a waste of time and money, think of the enormous cost of it and keeping him alive for 20/30 years (Even if sentenced to death, the time frame for execution would essentially be life in prison, with all the extra crap that comes with it). IMO, the decision of immediate death is justified since this is more a War issue and not simply criminal in nature. His belief demanded he kill anyone who threatened that belief. He went further and attacked any government that he felt threatened his belief. He essentially declared War on anyone who threatened his belief. His killing was an appropriate act of the War he instigated. That said, I think some (in the World) are questioning it since it seems we could have captured him easily, that the orders were to kill and not capture, and are therefore questioning whether that action was legal or illegal. IMO, the World had plenty of time (nearly 20 years) to debate the issue so (deleted) them! I agree with you Stujoe, the legal issue is irrelevant to me.
I think they meant he WAS in the border mountains (we had a chance at him there, but his companions forced him to flee before we could kill him, 10 years back or so). From there it was suspected he was in the border regions of Pakistan, moving from safe-house to safe-house and town to town. During the last 5 or 6 years it was suspected he was in the suburbs of major cities, most likely in northern Pakistan. But the fact that he settled in ONE spot amazes me somewhat, though I can see why he felt safe (high walls, not being in public, etc.) So, IMO, he was right where we thought he was ...if he had continued to move (even once a year or so) we probably never would have caught him.
I agree, 16 hours (half that sleep) to decide on giving the "Go!" order with THAT kind of info is not dithering. IMO it took chutzpah to give the order, considering the ramifications if it turned out to be someone other than Bin Laden.
Except that the reality is that Bush was still trying to get him on the Afghan/Paki border up until the election of 2008 (2.5 years ago, not 5 or 6 years) in an effort to 'get the job done' before he left office. Looking in the totally wrong place all the way through to the end of his term...since the reports are bin Laden had a house near Abbotabad since 2003. So, at best, we have thought he wasn't in the border area living in a cave only since Obama took the reigns. Yeah, Bush said he wasn't really that interested in Bin Laden, something that really pissed my off. The whole reason we went into Afghanistan was to capture him, so wtf? But, in Bush's defense ...there was a baseball game on TV at that moment ...or something... (laughs) ...The Bush administration clearly had little interest in Bin Laden ...until an election was approaching. I give Obama credit for more than just ok'ing a simple mission, for if it wasn't Bin Laden that was killed, just some random civilian, it would have been doom for his reelection bid. HUGE victory since it would have been a HUGE disaster otherwise. I say "it was suspected", by the intelligence community, not Bush's administration. If there was a suspicion, it was probably ignored by (his administration). They dropped the ball big time. Obama picked up the loose ball and sunk a 50 pointer lol
Why don't you say something intelligent for once instead of always going into attack mode? It makes you look like a dunce.
Get back to reality, dingbat. I don't know what you're referring to when you say "started it", but whatever it is, you can stop anytime. So I used the word "snuff" to break up the monotony of using the word "kill" all the time. So what? Did I make you have to run to the dictionary? If you'd prefer, I'll use simpler words that you might be more comfortable with such as those you might find on a Mattel See-and-Say. View attachment 175 The ignoramus (that's another word you can look up) says, "Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiggg".
There certainly was a new commitment to finding bin Laden when the current President took over and it would not be surprising if that is what lead to the end game...and actually looking in the right place. lol
You know, no one ever addressed my original post. BO claimed to be montoring the events as they were unfolding & even released the posed photo of him watching from of to the side as the adults went about their work. But now we know he wasn't monitoring anything. What's up with that?
What do you mean they weren't monitoring anything? It is pretty well established that they were receiving a feed at some points during the mission and that the SEALs had helmet cameras. It sounds like the feed went dead for a while but maybe the photo was taken while the feed was live or maybe they were waiting for it to come back after it went out. Do you think if the feed went dead, they would all just adjourn to the bowling alley and knock down a few pins until it came back up?
Well, I guess he can't really be the ego maniac you described him as in the past if he was sitting off to the side. Your hypercriticism is beginning to show just how hypocritical you really are. I guess that makes you hyper-hypocritical eh?
Don't shoot the messeneger. I simply enjoy pointing out this guy's shortcomings at every opportunity. Those of you who worship his every move & remain in a state of awe over his awesomeness really amaze me. Do you understand how ludicrious it is to believe the guy is capable? Some of us saw it prior to his election. Many have experienced the catastrophe of his reign. But a few of your ilk remain mesmerized.
