Osama bin Laden is DEAD!!

I know this is a time where people want to celebrate an' all... and not meaning to spoil it ...but I have an immense feeling of DREAD. I am worried this will result in an immense amount of violence. Time will tell, of course ...but I kinda wish he had died of natural causes... it would have less of an incendiary quality to it.

 

That is actually a good thing. If they retaliate out of emotion, they will make mistakes which will lead us right to them.

 

I understand. I'm talking about the other millions who idolize him, but haven't done enough to warrant our "huntin' 'em down"...

...there are so many (muslims) out there who have a rabid devotion to him, I'm concerned about what they will do now, knowing the U.S. finally killed him. My guess is violence, violence, violence. I'm just hoping there isn't too much of it over this. I might just be over-cautious, or worried too much ...but can't help it. They get so nuts from the slightest thing, you know what I mean?

I'm not religious, and maybe I'm too pragmatic, but "Do not drink the blood of thine enemies" comes to mind. I know. Sorry.

 

I am glad an evil is dead and I am glad we were the ones to do it and I am glad the body sleeps with the fishes as opposed to having been carried out in reverence by his followers. But, this is not the death of Hitler and the surrender of Germany. I won't be dancing in the streets over it. Hopefully it has hurt them but I am sure it has not destroyed them.

 

I think most people figured he was in Pakistan. I did. But, is anyone else at least somewhat surprised that he was hanging out in a large mansion/compound instead of hiding out in a cave in the mountains? And that the million dollar mansion/compound was only about 30 miles from the capitol and less than half mile from Pakistan's equivalent of West Point? I am.

 

I find it interesting that a few days ago, he was sitting in his mansion, clean and warm, probably eating well and feeling quite secure. Today, the ******* is dead with an American bullet through his brain with his remains probably being eaten by sharks. More importantly, he's meeting his maker.

 

Tom, why would you care if Bin Laden was taken down? According to you, 9/11 was an inside job & Bush is to blame. What issue did you have with the scum?
You have argued incessantly that terrorists living in caves, fighting with box cutters couldn't be behind 9/11? How does it fight into the paranoid conspiracy theory to find out the guy was living in luxury near Pakistan's main military college?

 

Perhaps he is referring to the embassies that were bombed and linked to Bin Laden. He is responsible for more than just 9/11, right?

 

I agree but I think we are going to have to ask What did Pakistan know, who knew it, and when did they know it? It is common knowledge Pakistan turns a blind eye to a lot of terrorist goings on. But, were they knowingly harboring Bin Laden and actively allowing him to operate out of their country? That is an Afghanistan/Taliban situation...

I would have preferred proof of what is claimed, that's all. Is there any? I know when they hung Saddam, somehow that evidence got to the web. Same here or no? I need proof is all I'm saying. Trust isn't a word that employs itself very well when referring to "official" stories. Just sayin'.

 

Reports have it that the death photo is pretty gruesome. Brains and all.

 

I'm not claiming anything. I'd just like to see some proof. I'm glad you're so trusting and that you're able to accept everything without any proof. I'm not and I don't. It is certainly possible that he was killed in the exact manner being reported. It's also possible he wasn't. Maybe he was on ice for 10 years. Who knows? That theory is no more provable or unprovable than the "official" stance at this point. We're in the peak of the video age where cameras are as common as salt. Since we went to war over this and since things like 9/11 are already in a questionable status (at best), it seems reasonable to want some sort of proof, and it wouldn't have required great effort to insure that we had some, given the enormity of OBL and its implications. Everybody and their brother has cameras in every form. I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation. Glad you're good with it all though.

 

Good. Then we'll see something verifiable soon and this would be a moot point very quickly. Works for me. Be nice to see some verifiable proof for a change.

 

Photos can be faked. Brains can be Photoshopped. One dead terrorist with a beard and his brains blown out pretty much looks like any other dead terrorist with a beard and his brains blown out. Can you tell the difference? 25% of people still think the birth certificate is a fake. Even proof is doubted by many.

 

I would. They could have put him in the Smithsonian and let every American come to spit on him.
