When BO was campaigning, he claimed he knew what our problems were & knew how to fix them. Granted things were tough when BO got selected but if you fast forward to today, the economy is worse, unemployment is higher, foreclosures are rampant, gas prices have doubled, the debt is out of control, we are engaged in even more military action, he has forced an unpopular health care "reform" on us- these are facts, not partisan views. All this in spite of having 3 years to make things better. He had 100% control of Washington for 2 years and still has 2/3 control, yet, based on every indicator, the country is worse off now than it was when he took control. I'm guessing the Dims aren't stupid enough to think this track record will get BO re-elected so who do you think they will run?
Most of the voting public are ignorant and have short term memories. It's very hard to defeat any incumbent, no matter how bad things have gone. They'll go with B.O. again if only for his recognition. They'll dare the republicans to run a viable candidate that will appease all sides. Not likely to happen. I wouldn't be shocked if B.O was elected for four more years. People are just that stupid. He got in there to begin with which was bad enough. Why not again? In his 8th year, people will still be blaming everything on the mess Bush created and we'll be worse off than now.
The Democrats will continue with Obama. I doubt many (in the political arena) will give serious thought to someone else. His massive fund-raising abilities appeal to them.
Unlikely, I think she stated something about this (her current job) being her last public service. She could change her mind of course, but I don't believe the Democrats will view her as an (overall) stronger candidate than Obama.
I'm not so sure BO will run again. On one hand, he has such a huge ego that I can't see him putting himself in a no-win position while on the other hand he does have a way of shifting the blame onto everyone else & fooling folks into thinking he's capable. I just don't know. All anyone has to do to (whether a dim in the primaries or Rep in the general) is plaster the campaign trail with "then & now" statistics. When people realize how much worse off we are now & the impact our debt will have on future generations there is no way he can be re-elected.
When was the last time that a sitting President ran for his party's nomination (as opposed to deciding not to run for another term), lost his party's nomination, and his party's nominee was then elected to the Presidency in the general election? I bet you would have to go back to the 1800's to find a scenario like that which worked out well for the party doing it. Obama will be the nominee.
Lyndon B Johnson 1968. He would have lost the nomination so decided not to run. OK it doesn't meet all your criteria but it was close. LOL!
I thought LBJ didn't seek the nomination because of health. The famous "I shall not seek, and I will not accept..." speech? Anyway, the replacement didn't do so well which is another big reason I think that it is an unlikely scenario.
