What are your thought on PE classes for school? I hated them as a child and teen but looking back we did not really do anything all that bad. We had to do tests twice a year such as the Eraser run, the hang, and the 600 yard dash. But other than that we played hockey, basketball, kick ball. In high school we golfed and went canoeing. I think now that PE is beneficial and there needs to be more PE in schools with the rate of obesity being so high.

Oh I was not athletic at all. I was always picked last for teams and totally sucked at every sport.

I enjoyed PE as a kid and think it should continue.

I was much more athletic back then and made a mistake by killing everyone in the 600 yard run.
Gym teacher was the track coach and I was a long jumper. When he saw I could run like that he would use me to "fill holes" in many events. Anything from the 220yd to the half mile.
Worst was when he put me in the high hurdles. I'd NEVER even attempted it. Run as fast as I could and get over them without killing myself was my goal.LOL

Given the obesity problem in this country, I think they should double the number of required PE classes. Furthermore, they should teach kids how to implement a long term exercise regiment rather than simply teaching them team sports.

I generally enjoyed PE. Both the sports and just the physical exertion when we just had to run, etc.

Somehow, though, I seem to remember Square Dancing being included in some of our PE sessions. Probably when it rained. I despised those PE sessions.

Great point there Lehigh96. Double up on the gym classes is a good thing. Not everyone goes out for sports so this would really help.
