    If Obama does exactly what some Rightie says he would do, they will bend over backwards to reverse their comments in order to criticize his actions. Hypercriticism for the sake of hypercriticism invalidates the opinions of the entire Right side of the aisle. Gingrich has to be the sleaziest sleazebag in politics today.

    Gingrich Reverses Course On Libya, Then Clarifies

    Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) made comments on Wednesday that appeared to completely contradict his original position on how America should’ve dealt with the humanitarian crisis in Libya.

    During an appearance on NBC’s “Today Show,” the man who many believe will launch a bid to run for President next year told host Matt Lauer that he disagrees with President Obama’s decision to intervene in Libya by enforcing a no-fly zone over much of the North African nation.

    When Lauer asked him, “Do you think Moammar Qaddafi has to go as a result of this intervention?” Gingrich responded by saying, “I would not have intervened. I think there were a lot of other ways to affect Qaddafi. I think there are a lot of other allies in the region we could have worked with. I would not have used American and European forces.”

    Later on, journalists and pundits alike pounced on Gingrich for seemingly flip-flopping on the issue. Dave Weigel, a writer for Slate Magazine, produced video of an interview Gingrich gave to Fox News’ Greta Van Susteran on March 7, in which he called for Obama to hastily get involved with preventing Qaddafi from attacking his own people.

    “What would you do about Libya?” Van Susteran asked.

    “Exercise a no-fly zone this evening, communicate to the Libyan military that Gadhafi was gone and that the sooner they switch sides, the more like they were to survive, provided help to the rebels to replace him,” Gingrich replied without hesitation.

    Weigel’s story caused even conservatives to do a double-take, with Weekly Standard columnist Stephen Hayes Tweeting, “Gingrich making opposing arguments on Libya in two weeks.”

    However, Gingrich attempted to clarify his apparently renewed stance, Tweeting back, “Given choice use allies not americans-after obama march 3 says qaddafi has to go make sure he goes-obama changed the choice.”

    Gee! That is almost as much of a flip-flop as someone who once said;
