Obama administration drops defense of anti-gay marriage law - NorthJersey.com It is immaterial to my point what law they are no longer enforcing, does anyone else have a problem the the executive branch deciding which laws they which to enforce?
Does it surprise you? Ever since he publically criticized the Supreme Court for one of their decisions it was obvious he had that branch in his crosshairs.
Absolutely! If our lawmakers create laws, it shouldn't be up to the president to indiscriminately decide which ones his Justice Department will enforce. By doing this, Obama has basically placed the court in his own hands. But, I think that's what he's been wanting all along....
OK Now that the three stooges have chimed in with misinformation, I guess I'll have to set things straight. The Administration has already said that they would enforce the law of the land with regard to DOMA but what they will not do is defend the legality of the law when challenged because they don't believe the law is constitutional. This is nothing both Reagan and I believe Nixon didn't also do during their time as president. Hate Obama of you want but try to be honest about the facts at least.
I believe that's the fact that HAS been stated. I don't personally hate the man, but I certainly dislike his policies. The facts of the case have been stated honestly, if you must know.
Where? All I see is you three saying that the Administration will not enforce the law. The law will be enforced but the Justice Department will not defend the law if it is challenged in court. That is not the same as not enforcing the law. It is actually giving congress and the supreme court the power to fight it out without the benefit of their help.
