» Ron Paul Enters Evidence of Bush War Crimes in Congressional Record Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind! Have at it folks !!!!
That is the major pillar of our foreign policy. We use dictators and then we topple them. See Egypt. We've tried both in the last week or so there. Some day maybe we will change the mission of our military and foreign policy to what it should be...to police our own borders and protect our own country from external threats. But that someday is certainly not today.
I want to like Ron Paul but something about him I don't trust. He's definitely the right's most reasonable presentation to date. I doubt they'll adopt his ideology though.
That may be because he appears to be almost the exact polar opposite of you on almost everything to do with government and economic policy. Economically and with regards to the federal government and what it should do, he is probably the most conservative member of Congress there is...Tea Party included. On social issues, he is a little more complex. Libertarian on some issues, conservative on others...but mostly he seems to take a Consttutionalist approach. I can only think of 2 areas where he probably appeals to you by some of what he has said....that Bush sucked and that the government is not to be trusted when it investigates itself. But, many people believe those 2 things. lol
Oh yeah! Now I remember why I liked him somewhat. He agrees that 9/11 was an inside job. I'm suspicious of his sincerity though.
I guess you didn't know he is a frequent guest on the Alex Jones show. His views on 9/11 are quite in line with mine.
So you also say that theories about remote control planes and missiles in regards to 911 are preposterous and bizarre? And you believe the government may have been inept but that it was not a conspiracy? And you don't believe at all that the government wanted the towers to come down? And you absolutely believe that the government was not involved in the 911 attacks and did not bring down WTC7? And you absolutely do not support the theory that 911 was orchestrated by the government? I guess you didn't know that all of the above are things that Ron Paul has said and agreed with. I do not think you are quite in line with those views.
Well..all I know is I've personally heard him on Alex's show many a time agreeing with him that 9/11 was a fraud, and I'm quite sure he's familiar with Alex Jones's particular stance on that subject. If what you state is his current stance, than he has certainly "toned it down" since I last heard him on. Maybe he's posturing politically now...I don't know, but I'll definitely check him out closer. I'm open to investigating his current position and any flip flops he may or may not be guilty of and modify my position, if that's the case. I don't immediately recall specific things he said but I guess it might be vague references like those he expresses (or doesn't express) like the ones the link below implies for my beliefs on Mr. Paul, but you may be right and thanks for the assignment! I'll look and report back and if I'm incorrect, I will say so, but I believe I am correct, but I will dig further and look for the specifics.
I am not a huge Ron Paul fan but I think his positions on 911 have probably been mostly misrepresented for a couple of reasons. 1. He has said that our policies in the middle east contributed to 911. Ironically, a hit piece by Fox News probably led to the belief that he was a truther because of that statement. They basically took that statement, which has nothing to do with the truth movement, and said he was a part of the 911 truth movement because of it. 2. He has said that he would support a new investigation into 911 and thinks things were covered up. Which, I think has been co-opted by the truth movement to mean that he thinks the government caused 911. But, from everything I have heard him say, he thinks any coverups were do to government mistakes, ineptness and waste. Which, given his beliefs on the government - which were Tea Party-ish before there was a Tea Party - should not be at all surprising. So, when some kid (or anyone else) asks him about 911 investigations, of course he is for that and, of course, he does not trust when the government investigates itself and, of course, he thinks the government covered up its mistakes. But, I have never heard him say anything about agreeing with the conspiracies. Just, basically, that government sucks. He is out, I think, to prove that the government is a big screw up, not to be trusted, and is inept. Valid points in a lot of ways and to a lot of people...and which I am sure he believes about the government in all things...including 911. But, he has denied conspiracies, like I posted above... Like I said, I am not a big Ron Paul 'fan'. I like some of his stances but think he is closer to a Tea Party-er than a civil or social libertarian. So, I am not on a mission to clear his name, so to speak. lol But, I do think that his positions on 911 have been misused by both sides. One - like Fox News - to condemn him and one - like the 911 movement - to embrace him...when his position are actually what a lot of people believe - government tries to cover-up its mistakes, is not to be trusted, and that our foreign policy in the middle east - and elsewhere - has not been a raging success for us as a country. So, I can see the 911 folks embracing him for his call for a new investigation but I do not think that he shares their views on conspiracies. Now, of course, he could be feeding the mainstream a bunch of crap and lying about his 911 beliefs because he knows he could not get elected if the truth of his ciews was known. But, he takes such other unpopular positions that I am skeptical of that. Also, that pendulum swings both ways...he could be leading the truthers on with little tidbits in order to have the support of people who would otherwise hate his policies and never vote for him in a million years. So, I tend to base my opinion on the actual things I have heard him say which, in my opinion, are not on the 911 conspiracy side of things. Even in the video you posted above...while he says he does not accept the 911 investigation - he, once again, talks about ineptness and the government spending so much and still not being able to prevent the attacks and about middle east policy but, in that video, he also says he doesn't endorse the 911 truth concerns. Pretty constant view and statement to the videos I just posted above.
Well, I've found a link to many quotes, clips, sound bytes from Ron Paul in regard to 9/11. (I do not share the particular views of the link I reference, it's just the best collection of documented proof of what he has actually said that encompass his actual words). He is certainly cozy with the idea that 9/11 is something much more than the government is telling us. You seem to be correct though in that he doesn't directly align himself with 9/11 "being an inside job", but he certainly seems happy to reap the benefits, so to speak, of people suggesting 9/11 was something other than it was. I guess this is where my confusion comes from concerning the man and 9/11. He seems like he doesn't want to really go on record as saying he is a 9/11 truther when called on it specifically, but, doesn't mind the stir it creates for his political purposes. He did "officially" accuse Bush of war crimes and entered into the record very recently (see link to that as well) so, I think he does share the same general view of 9/11 truthers, just doesn't want to be called on it specifically, plus Hannity and the Fox crowd don't seem to like him too much, so he can't be all bad, but you seem to be more correct than I on this particular aspect of 9/11 and Mr. Paul. It seems like Bush is afraid to leave the country now for fear of being arrested as a war criminal. Way to be the shining city on the hill Republi-CONS!!!
I think he should be installed in Egypt, or arrested and sent to Guantanimo. Maybe start a world tour, sending him around to different countries and have folks pee on his head publicly and watch the air come out.
