Would it have been ok if your candidate had won? Would you be complaining if that person wasted gas on a three ton limo?

I think a few of the various lib candidates are the ones most apt to be so hypocritical as to tell us what we should drive or how we need to live while they are consuming at gargantuan levels.

Well once again you don't know how to answer a question or questions. If you would've just said yes, then I could accept that. But instead you dodge very simple questions. That's ok. You are what you are. No conservative Prez ever mentioned conservation to the public then got into his limo. Funny.

Even if it were true, the bans on this President's watch don't subtract anything from today's production. You are looking at a decade from now. If anyone wants to look at bans, the ones from the 60ies, 80ies, etc might actually be worthy of discussing. But not ones from this year. And, even if the ones from the 60ies, 80ies, etc were lifted by this President, you are still looking at a decade for more production - if they actually decided to produce on those lands.

But, really, the bans have more to do with oil company stock prices that what we are paying at the pump. They don't have to produce on their leases to help their stock prices - they just need to have the land under lease - and, btw, they aren't producing on all the federal land they have under lease now.

There is also the psychology of economics.
"They" are afraid we will lose Libya's oil and there is no backup. i.e., the price goes up.
"They" are afraid we will lose Libya's oil and there are fields coming on line in the future. Now the price rise is significantly dampened.

Secondly, not all wells take 10 years to come into production. Some can be as rapid as 2-3 years.

No, they aren't producing on all the federal land. Not all federal land is worth producing.

"They" will be afraid we will drill in places that have been banned because of accidents and that another accident will occur in a new well, the price goes up. You start hinging things on the 'psychology' of the market and you can play it any way that is convenient. But, it typically the 'psychology seems to result in rises, not decreases, in the short term.

And for a lot of bans, there hasn't even been proper mapping and exploration for, in many cases, decades. They won't produce in 2-3 years. I would be surprised if the Gulf Ban - the most current - has been in effect long enough to affect much production that would have occurred at this point. Correct me if I am wrong, but the bans are for new drilling, not existing wells, aren't they?

And, are they producing on all the federal land that is worth producing on?

Take a look at this chart and see if you can guess what happened in the middle of 2008

And, yes, I have seen a whole field open up in 3 years - not just a well.

What ever happened to the promises BO made about bringing alternative fuel sources to market? All these lib promises & dreams just seem to have disappeared. No fuels, no wind, no anything....and all the while BO is vilifying & handcuffing every natural resource we have.
I'l ask dr moen this question, in another thread you proudly cut & pasted a story from '09 or '10 that discussed a huge "investment" BO made in an alternative fuel source in CA. I asked you what the outcome of that investment was but you never answered. It seems the money was squandered simply so his minions (people like you) could trumpet this amazing endeavour he had undertaken. But what were the results? Warren Buffet offered his plan. But what happened there? The left needs to either live up to their promises or let US oil, coal & nuclear producers do their job. Otherwise our entire country will exist at the whim of OPEC.

    Moen1305 Not Republican!

Republicans have blocked them at every turn. First using the filibuster threat and now using their majority in the house to kill the legislation. Have you not been paying attention? High speed rail, subsidies for solar, biofuels, and wind farms have all been killed by your party in the last two years to protect their Right wing money coming from the oil industry. You really have to pay attention to what your own people are doing. I mean geeesh!

Hmmmm... wait a minute. Democrats were able to pass the largest piece of... legislation... in nearly 100 years (Obamacare) without Republican approval, but they can't pass a little thing like alternative fuel? Somethin' smells fishy, Lucy......

That would be the head of the GOP rotting off as they completely sell out to the top 2% of wealthy Americans.

This jump is about speculation and fear over that pesky mass of water heading down the Mississippi.

Great point! No one supported Obamacare yet BO was able to satisfy his campaign debt to Ted Kennedy and get it passed. Now he blames the right when he doesn't get anything else accomplished and people are stupid enough to believe that?

Yes. there are lots of people stupid enough to believe it is all the republicans fault. Just look at the number of times moen has done just that.
