I remember just over $4.00 (4.05 maybe) for a couple of weeks around here during vacation season '08 but not close to 'cusping' $5 here anyway. I bet it will be significantly higher than $4.05 this summer.

I thought it was the markets that decided the price, Tom. Are you hallucinating again?

True, but the market is much more hostile with a criminal, profiteering, preemptive war mongering crowd in the White house.

C'mon now..you can afford it. What's that thing get, 7?...8 miles to the gallon? Besides...it's "just business", the market and all that ratamataaz. You should be praising the successes of capitalism.

Follow BO's orders and maintain the tire pressure & you'll get 60 miles/gal!!!

Actually, I got 10 miles per gallon in that truck, a lifted V8 4x4.......it had a 31 gallon tank and gas in Blythe CA was $5.15 a gallon.....30 gallons to fill up. Clembo ad I drove from Phoenix to Long Beach for a coin show, then the return trip, about 1000 miles round trip. It would have been cheaper to fly and rent a car.

I think the trouble all over the Middle East has something to do with the rise in oil prices. Not really in our control. We could invest heavily in alternatives and high speed rail I suppose as Obama has suggested but that would mean that our wallets couldn't be sucked dry by the big oil companies anymore. That would be a shame. Fortunately, I can walk to work so high gas prices are not an issue.

Or we could meet our needs through offshore drilling and ANWR instead of pipe-dream high speed rail and socialist-agenda Green initiatives.

    From Wikipedia:

Eco-socialism, green socialism or socialist ecology is an ideology merging aspects of Marxism, socialism, green politics, ecology and alter-globalization. Eco-socialists generally believe that the expansion of the capitalist system is the cause of social exclusion, poverty, war and environmental degradation through globalization and imperialism, under the supervision of repressive states and transnational structures.[1]
Eco-socialists advocate the dismantling of capitalism and the state, focusing on collective ownership of the means of production by freely associated producers and restoration of the commons.[1
