Please defend Palin

I can't prove gravity either but I know it exists. Your mistake is assuming that because there is no proven link between the rhetoric and this particular act of violence, no link exists. That is a logical fallacy. When you have situations like Beck targeting an organization day after day on his television program and a man is apprehended with weapons on his way to shoot that very same organization up and admits during an interrogation that Beck's rhetoric prompted him to take action, well, it isn't such a logical leap to think that other unstable people might also be motivated by inflammatory rhetoric.

Political bullying goes on in this forum every day and across the country in thousands of chat rooms, town hall meetings, and countless other venues. You're doing it right now. If you have never engaged in political bullying, please state it for the rest of us to hear.

 

There is lots of evidence that gravity exists. There is no evidence that Loughner's act was political. In fact, there is lots of evidence that his act was nothing but loony. Your accusations state as fact what no evidence supports. That is a logical fallacy.

Your hypocrisy is decrying that political bullying causes all of these problems in the middle of one of your political bullying rants. I GUARANTEE you that I have never ever done that.

It's showing nine specific states that should be politically targeted in an attempt to turn them from Rep to Dem control.

Are either of these "target maps" telling anyone to go shoot someone in the head? Don't be foolish! These are political maps showing which districts/states to target for political gain. Anyone too blind to see that is, well.... blind.

 

So....her term "reload" means what exactly? I see cross hairs. What do you see? Cross hairs, reload, target. Yeah....that's a real leap, isn't it?

 

When Palin said, Don't retreat... reload", I interpreted it as a metaphorical term meaning, "Don't run... stand up". If you think that she actually meant to reload a 9mm handgun and shoot someone in the head, then I think you're way out of line.

When Obama said, "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun", I believe he was speaking metaphorically, not that he actually meant to bring a gun and shoot people in the head!

 

Please, please, please....if you are capable of lucid thought, stop being tomc for one moment & show us any connection between what this kook did & the Repub party.

 

Reload means "don't run, stand up". Ok. Webster's seems to differ but ok.

Her inference was exactly what she wanted it to be. Rile up the gun owning, whacko right wing base. To catch attention and suggest something other than "stand up, don't run". Pleeeease. I think, if he is incapable of telling the difference, tom may share a similar line of thinking with Loughner. Perhaps tom should be the poster boy for how political rhetoric can affect those that are less blessed in the intelligence department...let's watch what Olberman, Maher & Mathews are saying and monitor tom for violent thoughts.

 

Using your analogy, then Obama literally meant to "bring a gun". Was he stirring up the gun-toting, whacko, left-wing base? Or the left-wing NRA members? Well, of course not and I have the intellectual capacity to understand a metaphor and see what Obama and Palin meant. Sheeeesh!

Hey, now when your party uses terms like "death panels", "socialist takeover", and what was it...something like "time for the second amendment to resolve" blah, blah, blah,...those are metaphors too, correct? I wish that you could follow a conversation. You immediately search for any handle to be contrary. I never, never, never said that gravity doesn't exist, I said that gravity can't not be proven. If something falls out of the air and hits the ground, is that gravity? If so, prove it was gravity. Gravity is just like God. You can't prove God exists, but you believe it anyway. Why?

To state that Loughner's attack was not political is well, as Ed would say Psycho Talk. He may not have hated Gifford's political views or liked them but he did go after her because of who she was. They found a note in his home.

Investigators believe the handwritten message was a reference to Giffords, Pima County Chief Rick Kastigar said. The note was found in a safe alongside other ones, including "I planned ahead," "My assassination" and the name "Giffords."

Do you still believe this was not political? What is your definition of political then?

Death Panels: A bureacrat determing whose life is worthy of medical treatment based on financial concerns. If you think they won't be part of the landscape I suggest you read up on the writing of liberal-darling Paul Krugman.

Socialist Takeover: A govn't assuming control of private enterprise. As Reagan once said, "You can't socialize medicine with also socializing the doctors & patients".

Why do you dismiss their behavior as craziness but believe that they are lucid enough to know that gun metaphors are not meant to be taken literally?

 

Just exactly where did I say or so much as imply the you said gravity does not exist? What I said is "There is lots of evidence that gravity exists" and physicists may go further than that. Beyond that, you are again making false assumptions again that you cannot support.

As for his note, "Die, bitch", just what is political about that? "I planned ahead"? "My assassination"? To be political, it would be Dips/Reps, Libs/Cons, etc. So far what I have heard is that he was afraid the government was trying mind control through grammar. Now let me see. Who has been obsessed with grammar? Oh! Yes, I remember - the Libs or at least one of them. I guess that means they are the ones who drove him beyond control.

 

Who is saying it's unrelated? For that matter, who is saying it IS related? I say that we should wait for the evidence to become clear before we come to conclusions. I'm not going to say that his actions weren't related to the vitriol simply because I don't know whether that's the case or not. However, the left certainly seems to be making the case that his actions were based on his skewed perception of the Tea Party. Let's wait for the facts and then let the chips fall where they may. Without evidence, the left is wrong in blaming the Tea Party and you need to admit that.

I don't expect lunatics to be able to distinguish ANYTHING. That's one of the reasons they're lunatics. Personally, I think it would be crazy to take Obama's remark, "If they bring a knife, we'll bring a gun" as a call to violence. If they can't tell the difference between a harmless metaphor and a call to violence, well, you be the judge whether they're crazy or not.

What I'd like to know from the Left-wing crowd here is; Why is Palin's reference to cross hairs any worse than the Dem's bulls eyes, BO's gun, Kanjorski's literal reference, etc. and so forth

 

Because when the right says things like that, they're a "call to violence". But, when the left says the same thing they're a "metaphor"? There are Olbermann's in every... oops... I mean hypocrites in every party.

 

That is what the fuss is about? I thought she put gun crosshairs on the Congress people? Is that honestly it? That's a freaking map!

If someone takes a B17 and drops bombs on a number of states, I think I would then blame Palin and her map. But, that? I can't stand Palin and wish she would go crawl back under whatever snow drift she came out of but I honestly can't see that as remotely panty jumble worthy even as a political topic. Not even a little bit.

 

Well DUH! I would not even have a problem if they had put the cross hairs on the people. On the other hand, what Kanjorski said ought to be a crime.
