Congratulations you win the award for stupid statement of the year. Christianity is not a religion! WOW.
It depends on what exactly you mean by outlawed. If a kid is of a religious frame of mind they should, as far as possible, be allowed to practice their faith. However I don't believe any religion should be promoted by schools. The best way to avoid offending different religions is to leave them out of the discussion and education should be secular.
Congratulations for taking the longest time to think up an insult that I have ever seen. It probably should go down in the annals of history. Obviously I just explained myself badly. The point that I was making and that I stand by, is that Christianity is a huge umbrella for a group of faiths, beliefs, religions, sects--whatever you want to call them. You can't hold Seventh-Day Adventists responsible for the ugliness of the Westboro Baptist Church--in fact, the Baptist church pretty much denounces them. Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians and Quakers and Pentecostal are all "Christians," but they are not even similar in most of their doctrines. So while "Christianity" is a world religion, it is not a singular religious practice. Christianity ceased being a singular religious practice when the Western Church (the Roman Catholic Church) split from the Eastern Church (the Orthodox Church). It continues to split to this day. I'm just saying that to hold "Christianity" responsible for anything as a whole is ridiculous. I still maintain, too, that if we are going to support other faiths in schools, that we should also respect Christian faiths. If we are going to eliminate Christian beliefs, then we should eliminate all beliefs. But yeah, good job in digging up a thread that had died. Yay for you.
Why should we support any faith in school? If you want your children indoctrinated into your particular faith then do it at home and in your particular church. Schools should be for education, a place to learn facts and theories with evidence and proof behind them. Schools should be a religion free zone apart from classes in Religious Knowledge/Education where the belief systems of the different religions should be explained and compared, with no religion being given priority over any other. This hopefully should lead to a realisation that most religions are fundamentally the same faith driven population control systems used since ancient times, lacking in facts and evidence and all seemingly based on the blind belief in texts written deep in the past, some of which have been translated with dubious efficiency, over and over again.
Actually, you can thank KDawson and the forum software for digging up the thread. I just don't post in the middle of threads without reading the whole thing and your comment caught my eye.
Regardless of who or what resurrected the thread, that particular response to a four-month-old post was patently absurd. If your choice is to keep tension high between us, at least use your ire raised by a recent post that I actually care about. I've said before that I will no longer engage with you, no matter how much you want me to--and after this post I'll go back to staying off this forum. Ignoring you, however, would not have expressed sufficient derision for your delayed insult and your continued efforts at doing battle.
(excitedly) Girl-fight! Wait! Hold on a minute... I gotta get popcorn for this! I'll be quick, so don't do anything juicy 'till I get back... then, and I'm only throwing this out there, if you two want to make up and kiss... ...why are you two looking at me like that?
