I dont quite get the post. Would Roosevelt be one of your favorite if you had met him instead of Truman? Had you been a few years younger would you have liked Carter because he wouldve been your Commander in Chief? Ok if you lose your job. But what if you lose your job home(if you dont own it yet) and savings too? Would you still be just rocking on the porch? Wouldnt you get hungry?

This is complete non-sense. I'll go so far as to say it is B.S. Am I in the top 2% of income earners? No?? Then why would I support a party that only cared about the top 2% of income earners? Because it goes WAY beyond your narrow minded thinking? Yeah, I guess that could be why.

Look dude...in case you haven't noticed, I go the the most extreme view often in order to make my point. It gets people to actually think about the point if they see an extreme point of view. Oversimplify. Be absurd. It works often because people look for the two second sound bite, the quick sentence...the instant answer. So if it got you to at least think about why it is that you're voting for whomever you're voting for (whichever right wing wack job that happens to be), then it worked.
Far as the actual OP in this particular thread, I believe the base right wing, is indeed
all about only people of wealth. The hard right (which winds up controlling the whole party) is all about wealth, power...all the above. Are the democrat a whole lot better? You could easily argue NOT. But which party does actually, on occasion, fight for the "not so wealthy"? Given the two choices...that's really easy IMO. Obama is our president and we need to get behind him (as I've always heard the right spout when their wack job is in there). Is he perfect? Nope. But...the alternative is the nonsense we saw during Bush's years. Corporations, oil barons, and Wall street shell games without limitation. That IS what the right represents, as I see it, based on what I have experienced in my life here in this country. I haven't EVER heard the right fight for minimum wage for folks that need it. I haven't ever witnessed (in my time) republicans against anything that doesn't represent the upper echelon. For them, it's all about the cash, the profit, the stripping of resources from whomever and where ever it can come from. SOMETIMES....people NEED a hand up. That's just life. The republicans ain't the party to look to for a hand up on that hopefully rare occasions that one might need them. The right b*tches about health care reform, because guess why? Because it cuts into their mega wealth. They'll STILL be wealthy regardless, but for them, it's about MORE, MORE, MORE. Get it? That's my take on the friggin right wing. Voting AGAINST them can't possibly be wrong (unless you're rich). That's what I do, and what I will teach my son to do. The right blows is what I will show him as he gets older. You jackwads that think you're some kind of conservative NOT representative of the hard right are very disillusioned. That is EXACTLY what you support when you vote republican. MORE for the mega wealthy. Less for everybody else. I ain't rich, so I vote against them every chance I get.
Finally....on a strictly personal "who's capable and who isn't"...again...the right gives us George Bush, Palin, and Dr. dementia. Obama? The man is intelligent, capable, and a helluva lot better choice than the dunces the right presents election after election. Damn right I support Obama. He's eons better than the alternative right. Not even close.

 

I don't think I have met anyone, rich, poor or in between who is so obsessed with wealth and money as the above.

 

To me, McCain amounted to a warm body. So how much credit does B.O. deserve for winning that election? Deep down, Obama and Michelle hate this country. I wouldn't bet $50 with any certainty if he was even born here. We know that he spent most of his childhood over-seas and did not grow up here. Completely disconnected from the life that 99% of Americans went through. So to think the man cares about the founding principles of this country or the country in general is foolish. He spent millions on top of millions to get a high stress, $400k a year job. He only cares about power and transforming this place into a socialist utopia that has been proven by history not to work. Sorry if that bursts your bubble.

Well...the "market" decided in the last presidential election, and it decided AGAINST the party of the wealthy, as it will inevitably will once again in 2012 when you all present us with the brilliance of Sarah Palin or maybe even Mr. "family values" himself...the Newt. Newt is a local where I live at and even though he is short and sqauatty think he has good ideals but he will never be elected President. I also like Sam Nunn who is also a local but he has retired. I am an independent and vote for the man and not the party and there are big losers in both parties today and no standard bearers, except for John McCain. I think I could be best described as a reactionary who would not take Sarah Palin to a dog fight if she was the main attraction.

 

tom's post exposes what he really thinks the country owes him: a "hand up" and a minimum wage....both are subsidies for failure, designed by the left wing liberal elites to maintain a dependent class and voting block they can manipulate by promising the next gov't freebie. What tom views as the lack of benevolence from the right is actually an attempt to ween this ever growing dependent class off the gov't teet before it's too late. So, tom, who is really trying to help the people?
tom loves to say republicans only represent "the top 2%". Really? Then why does the party have about 50% of the population's support? tom you certainly have your own little sense of reality but I can assure you that it's a reality that is not shared by people in the real world.

 

Why isn't John Kerry a republican? What about George Soros? He has billions and billions. Why doesn't he donate all of his money to the republican party so he can grow it even more!? Your whole theory goes up in smoke when you look at all of the rich people in the democrat party and donating to it. You think the democrat party is trying to help people? They want people like you reliant on them, so they can buy your vote. When the govt eventually collapses and there isn't any more social security checks going out and no more welfare going out, how long do you think the recipients are going to last? How will they handle the situation? Will they be willing to work with people to get through it? Or will they riot in the streets and resort to stealing?

A lot of people DIDN'T want McCain but what can I do about it?. He was a democrat as far as most of us were concerned. They tried to pander to the ignorant by running him. Limbaugh didn't want him. He criticized him the entire year leading up to the election. At least the republicans will evaluate their people and judge them. The cost of putting out the fires that administration started cost that much more to fix..smaller fires are always easier to put out.
