The New Elite

I like it when Glenn Beck trashes the "Elite". What's he worth again? What are the rest of these people financially worth like Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, O'Reilly and all those that decry the rise of the elite? The one thing they all have in common is that they got rich off of divisive political rhetoric. They not only do not contribute anything to society, they tear it down and divide the country. At least people who achieve higher education degrees contribute something to society unlike their Right wing vocal critics. You can't condemn an entire social class without overstating the reality of the situation. A social class can't answer back, a social class can't refute criticisms. In other words, a social class is an easy target. Specifically, Right wing pundits and people known for being known are available for direct critiques and I judge them to be a blight on society and nothing more than parasites.

 

Yep, spoken like the true bully you are & just as we've suspected all along. Dr moen can intimidate those naive young coeds on campus but that vacuum he lives in makes him ill-prepared to handle dissenting ideas in the real world. Just go ahead making your classes such easy targets & bully those kids in your classes so that they can't answer back or refute your criticisms.

 

Okay, first things first. If you have to make the distinction that Jimmie Johnson the NASCAR driver is the famous one by telling your readers that Jimmie Johnson the football coach is not, isn't that an admission that the football coach is the real celebrity. FWIW, winning an NCAA national championship and a Superbowl as a coach is an incredible feat. Barry Switzer was the only other coach to accomplish that.

It isn't that I disagree with what the author of the article is saying, it is just that I don't understand the distinction between the old elite and the new elite. The elite have always had the money, always attended the best preparatory schools and Universites, always lived in segregated areas, and always married each other. So what has changed? Nothing!

As for Moen's commentary, I agree that the right wing pundits are elites. But so are the left wing pundits. Furthermore, most of the people he mentioned (Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly) are entertainers. Sometimes, I wonder if Moen knows that, or if he assumes that nobody else knows that. Without being divisive, nobody would watch/listen to their shows because they would be boring as hell. I don't watch those crappy shows and my guess is the the large majority of the viewers of those political commentary shows are those whose opinions are already carved in stone. In other words, the only people who watch are those who are devout in their political affiliation. The pundits preach to the choir and the opposition listens with the sole intention of disagreeing at a later time. The moderates of our society do not find these people remotely interesting because they do not embody the ideals of the moderates which include cooperation, negotiation, and compromise. In the end, the people Moen hates so much are simply entertainers with very little real effect, other than to push his buttons which they do so well. So judge them however you want, nobody really cares.

 

I have nothing against "elites" nor do I even know what an elite is. To the poor, the wealthy are elitists. To the uneducated, the educated are the elitists. To the racial minorities, the racial majorities are the elitists. We all have our conceptions of those that think they are "better" than us. The rub here is that there are some people in this society that insist on labeling their perceived foes as "elites" simply for personal gain and at the cost of putting each other at one another's throats. If this isn't pure and simple class warfare, I don't know what is.

You can pretty much stop listening when any politician, political analyst, tv personality, etc starts talking about Elites and Regular Joes. It is inane blather of the worst sort.

So, tom, would this be a case of you extracting or exploiting dr moen? Paying someone to do something illegal? Paying someone to do your dirty work? This behavior is awfully inconsistent coming from one who rails against the exploiters & extractors, isn't it? Can you say hypocrite? But, I guess, it's par for the course with the left..."do as I say, not as I do", huh?

The "Elite" are people like Barbara Boxer which we just saw in another thread. Too important to be called "ma'am" now. The difference with all these people you list is they have character, principles, and are actually willing to try to teach based on history. They use rational thought. If Beck is making anything up, he has a red phone on his desk that the Whitehouse is told to call at any time to refute what he's saying. But it never rings.
I would gladly invite any of them into my home for dinner. Can you say the same for Reid, Pelosi, Boxer, Schumer?? Please answer, because I'd love to know this. Wait, I'll answer that for you. You could only wish!! These people don't break bread with mere peasants! They don't even want to hear or see you. But don't worry. They'd be about as interesting as a rock anyway, so you wouldnt miss much.
Anyway, that's how I tend to gauge these people. I wouldn't allow your heroes to shine my boots.

Needle d*cks like you always have to brag about how much cash they have. They feel so short changed in other areas, they hope the cash will distract the cheap pigs they have to date. My guess is that your 75K a year that you've told us that is your annual income, coupled with your additional non reported income of playing with little chips, impresses the prostitutes enough that they know where their next snort is coming from.
