After making loans to people that could ill afford them, then being bailed out by the tax payers, and now banks are employing deceptive foreclosure practices and all 50 states are investigating weather they broke the law. It just never ends with these SOB's does it? Oh yeah, and Wall Street is paying bonuses that are setting new records. Besides having nothing to do with the big banks in this country, what else can we do to stick it to these guys that seem to relish the opportunity to stick it to us? I'm open to suggestions because I am sick of these parasites.

Oh...it's "just business". Capitalism and the free market doing its' thing. Nothing to be concerned about. It's probably all Obama's fault. It'll be ok once the republicans get back in and continue on the way it was before Obama got in there. The best and brightest representatives since George Bush Jr. are just waiting in the wings to take over for them and restore the confidence and credibility Georgey boy had in place before he left us.

On an individual level, there isn't much I can think of to do other than not use those banks (if possible). I took everything out of BoA, closed the accounts, and put it into a local bank a while back. I am sure they will survive but I feel better at least. lol

Good for you! I think if we all bank locally or with a Credit Union, the big guys will suffer eventually.

Over the last year, I have really tried to make a concerted effort to support as many local businesses as I can. It is a double whammy of not being happy with a lot of things that are going on in the country and living in a smaller community where 'going local' is a big thing. The banking was a no-brainer. Most of the time, it isn't that hard to make a change, you just have to overcome the inertia. lol

Did you catch the news that this year will see the largest payout in Wall Streer bonuses ever? You know when the old record was set? Yep- last year. All of this under the BO regime? After all the lessons we learned in this financial crisis? After BO has appointed the pay czars and everything else? Geessshhhhh

All rhetoric aside, do you think the other party would do anything about those kind of bonuses? If so, what would they do? I think one could say that all they would do is give them a tax break on next year's bonuses but maybe I have missed something else in their plan.

Like I said above, there is little that the little guy can do about it other than move their money.

I've done the same thing....I refuse to participate with the largest banks....all local for me too. Doesn't hurt them I'm sure, but, I say screw the corporate rapists as much as possible.

Yup....I even get local gas at a mom and pop station. I refuse the big conglomerates....especially BP (in addition to EXXON).

We still have to buy from Walmart too. Don't like it and we try to avoid it but, frankly, we don;t make enough money to buy everything from Mom and Pop. We buy almost all of our seasonal produce from local growers. Would I like to buy nothing but organic and local food 365 days a year? Would I love to never buy another Chinese made product again? Yes, but financially, there is no way we could do it and make ends meet.

Being middle class in income - not Obama's 250K middle class but the 5 figure variety - you can only do so much. Supporting the family has to come over supporting the community no matter what your ideals might be. If we had 150K to 200K more of disposable income a year, we would probably never walk into a Walmart again.

Tomc and I could not be further from each other on political issues but if you have to support a family with a job at Walmart, you suck it up and go to work at Walmart.

Actually I now boycott Walmart. I'll pay higher prices at a smaller vendor versus the big wigs getting fatter. I think we should outsource all management to China.
