They may not be rich, but their skill allows them to beat the game, overcome the rake and other expenses, and make a decent living.

My point is that although poker is a form of gambling, it does not automatically constitute throwing your money away as do the games against the casino and the house edge. You already stated that you like playing poker. But I don't consider it a poker game until the money matters. Playing nickel and dime stuff is like playing Scrabble, a way to pass the time. You don't need to gamble (play poker), and neither do I, but if you were to test your skills in a bigger game where the money actually means something, perhaps you would gain a different perspective on the game. The mental challenge of beating skilled players with a monetary payoff can't be duplicated by playing the game just for fun. If you don't believe me, just ask Jack. You should try it, sounds like you have the disposable income to do so!

BTW, the "socialist money" thing was just a dig, lighten up would ya!

Last year, that statement was correct. I did win over $10K playing poker (which is a bad year), but I also had some incidents on the casino floor in the Pai Gow pit that made that $10K evaporate. My invitation to Moen is open to all. Anytime you want to test your skills Tommyboy, you know where I will be.

Never have cared that much for poker. Play it occasionally like Moen for camaraderie. But, I really don't like Texas Hold Em. I will kick ass and take names in that cut-throat game known as Uno, though. Also like Hearts and Spades.
