So are you saying we should be as intolerant as other countries? We dont live in Suadi Arabia. We have different values. People came this land to escape religious oppression. I dont recall hearing Obama's or any President's outrage over Holland's reefer lounges. ''Tormented her for many minutes''? What does that mean? Is that what you want Americans to do regarding religion?

I thought he did say that the preacher does have a right to offend muslims. (to burn the koran)

I think the root of what he is trying to say is that burning the koran deserves no more coverage and/or hoopla than the burning our bibles in the islam countries gets in our and the worlds' news.

My principle beef with this nutcase isn’t that he wanted to burn copies of the Qur’an on 9/11, I am just angry that he decided to stop there. Why not make it a really good fire and toss in copies of the Torah, The Bible, The Theravada, The Sruti, The book of Mormon, Dianetics, and all the rest of the hateful nonsense people have used as an excuse to demonize each other since they were written. I have several worthless copies of the bible that I am more than willing to donate to the flames. You may agree or disagree with me but at least I don’t play favorites. I don’t see any one religious dogma as any better than any other religious dogma. Organized religions all serves the purposes of man while pretending to serve a higher power. If there actually was a higher power, it would have ended this crap a long time ago.

Here are 50 reasons or proofs why God does not exist and organized religions simply exist for the purpose of serving man’s ends not God’s ends.

Anyway, burn a Qur’an simply didn’t go far enough but it is a good start and it isn’t necessary to publicly announce your intentions. Just do it quietly in your backyard and don’t be stingy with the other religious texts either. Don’t forget the marshmallows!

Nobody's going to get all worked up if he burns those other books.

I still think it is hysterical that the internation Islamic community is more outraged by one American burning a Koran than the US military waging war against their Muslim brothers in the middle east. They don't care if we kill Muslims, but one book is worthy of an attack. Applying logic when dealing with these people seems fruitless.

Perhaps we should pull our troops out of the middle east entirely and just declare war on the Koran. Lets burn every Koran we can find. Eliminate every company that publishes, prints, or otherwise disseminates the text contained within the Koran. With any luck, we will expose the Islamic extremists and force them into action. State sponsored terrorism will rise around the world, and eventually everyone will realize that the book burners are not the problem, the jihadits killing people are the problem. Once Iran enters the frey, we can give them exactly what they want, a nuclear bomb.

I honestly see no way of avoding a nuclear war with Iran in the future. Our only hope is to swing the world opinion in our favor before we are forced to use a nuclear weapon against them.

Before you guys accuse me of having turned Midas, I am just kinda thinking out loud. I see Iran as the single biggest threat to the US in the world today. The country is run by an evil theocratic regime who basically believes in the same religious principles that Islamic extremists do. In other words, Iran is run by terrorists. Their thinking is devoid of logic and can't be dealt with the rationally. I believe that they will not stop until they see a mushroom cloud over Jerusalem. We should be preparing for what I consider an inevitable reality.

Those very same people who are screaming the loudest about us burning THEIR koran - that is excluding the press.

"We" are not burning their Qur'an, some nut in Florida is. If these very same people burned religious texts, and I believe the Taliban did exactly that, they have my blessing to keep burning whatever religious dogma they want to burn. If burning someone else’s holy book is enough to incite violence against others, my guess is that these people aren’t reading the books anyway. I’m not a big fan of burning books for any reason really, but if it whips nutcases into a frenzy and is done for the specific purpose of angering others, the book isn’t the problem here, it is the people reading or not reading it that are the real problem. The book is just the excuse.

Some of the world's most evil villians have espoused the same ideology as you, dr moen. Don't you find it odd that many of the most evil tyrants begin their conquest by attacking individual freedoms & religion (not necessarily in that order)?

That is an extremely strange comment for one to make. Perhaps you should explain yourself a bit?

And how many times have I had to listen to these same two democrats cry foul when I call other people names. One calls David . Both personal attacks were unprovoked and very mean spirited. As far as I am concerned, they have no standing to complain when they are the target of future personal attacks on this forum.
