Perhaps? Thats quite a commitment. Thats saying maybe someone does need giraffe slippers. So you dont think there are greedy people in this country? Actually I meant to delete that gold toilet and giraffe crap, because it wasnt what I meant. I could by giraffe slippers but it doesnt mean I'm greedy. Just a jagov.
What else would you like me to justify with "Tom's lingo and logic". The mere fact that I have earned $1 means that I have exploited someone according to Tom. And, therefore, Sarah Palin is going to shoot a moose. Yep! That is logic for you.
Sure there are greedy people but being greedy is a choice they are free to make, wouldn't you agree? I have a friend who bought his daughter a $60k sports car for her 16th birthday...he also shelled out another $14k to buy a Hyundai Accent so she could learn to drive (without damaging the expensive car). Is that excess? Absolutely. Is it a choice you or I would make? Heck no. But it was his choice and really doesn't effect me or anyone else. Now when greed leads to criminal activity that's a whole other issue.
I never said it was a crime. Sure its a choice. But be prepared to be looked upon with disdain from others without even one car. I'm not sure corporate greed is the same. Lavishing yourself with jewels and gold is not the same as grabbing all you can at the expense of others. Grabbing smaller outfits to increase your size while disrupting the lives of those in the smaller outfits(the firing or laying off) is what I think is greed. The idea of Starbucks building a shop next to a mom and pop coffee shop causing them to go under, and then closing the starbucks is the kind of thing that many see as greed.
Actually, it really does affect you. He kept something around 3 people employed for a year and helped the economy when he bought those cars. Now your other friend who just spent his unemployment check at the local grocer (or Walmart) might have helped the local grocer, but the government took that money from your "greedy" neighbor so he could not buy a motorcycle to go with the cars. Now, someone in the motorcycle business gets laid off.
And he could only buy those cars because the Motor industry was bailed out LOL using your tax $$ therby keeping more people employed who in turn spend money that helps others and pay tax's so someone else can be bailed out
Using Tom's definitions of greed and excess, YES. I have yet to receive a job offer from a poor man - not even Tom.
Look at it like this as long as the wealth is not been horded then logicaly it will make it's way back into the economy Now while some of us will disagree with spending a thousand bucks on a meal or 200 thou+ on a boat that money is then back at work helping to keep others in a job Ok now that is a quite simplistic view of economics but never the less it is still basicly sound
Even hoarded (not stuffed in a mattress), i.e. bank savings, stock, bond, etc., it facilitates growth. Banks loan it out, stocks enable company growth, bond enable construction, etc.
We are starting to make sense here I have asked many times to substitue the words " rich " or " corporations " with the word " employer " Because the wife and I have tightened our belts recently, I can only guess the amount of movie producers, ticket takers and popcorn sellers, nail tech's and massage techs ( for the Mrs ) , tree trimers and landscapers, car washers, oil changers, dishwashers and cooks and waitreses, HBO and Showtime stockholders, etc etc etc, wish we spent more money. Gold and silver in your safe does not stimulate the economy, it drains it. Too bad many of us are afraid to spend money because the future is so unpredictable. That is money that no longer circulates and tax revenue on each of the above mentioned stops being created. I know a cpl bullion dealers are happy that we have tightened our belts tho........We still spend money, we just spend it safer Edit: Just thought of something. When my boat got totalled on it's trailer at a red light by being rear ended by a driver while texting, that insurance settlement money also turned shiny instead of being spent on a new boat, bait, campground fees, boatramp fees, new fishing gear, beer, sporting goods etc etc etc. It has also left circulation.....bummer, I had a lot of fun on that boat. Nahh, money doesnt trickle down....that theory is crazy I tell ya !!!
Hey tom, look at this story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100910/ap_on_bi_ge/us_gm_ceo_pay_4 Looks like BO is sure willing to pay those exorbitant, excessive, exploitive, fat cat wages you are so opposed to!!
I've already conceded it fuels the economy....champagne...imported cigars, private jet sales, for example.
Banks don't "loan" ANYTHING out. It creates debt out of thin air. The only thing growing is the cooked balance sheets.
