He cant help himself. Hes a miserable person. He mustve called Springer once, but his story was so pathetic even they turned him down.
Wasn't Springer caught up in some kind of prostitution deal, leading to his exit from politics? Also, I believe he was born in England thus D'orcs fervent defense.
LOL David Oh David what a load of bull but it is what I have come to expect from you when you can not come up with a credible argument ) Sure he was born in England so what? he was educated and raised in the US of A he left these shores in 1949 (he was about 5) he was born in a tube station during the blitz and his folks were German jews. As for the prostitution scandel if you had actualy taken a moment to read the previouse posts you would have seen I have allready mentioned that as well as pointing out that he became Mayor after the incident occured he resigned in 74 but was back with a landslide victory in 75 mainly due to his honesty in admiting he had hired a prostitute LOL so please do take some time to understand what you are commenting on in future it saves you looking a fool He actualy majored in Politics and He earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Northwestern University in 1968 then went on to work for Robert F. Kennedy So yeh he has his roots in the Democratic party and has a good understanding of the game regardless of what any one else wishes to believe LOL
First of all, I am not all wound up and I don't know where you are getting that from. You are indeed attacking the casino industry whether you would like to admit it or not. You make light of the casino business as if it is as easy as Field of Dreams "if you build it, they will come". The casino business is an entertainment business. The casinos are designed to provide adults with a fantasy playground of sorts. There is no element of chance in the long run, the house edge will always prevail. And as your google search has shown, that edge is small enough to give the illusion that the casino is beatable while providing the casinos with profits worthwhile their original investment. The casino I work at lost money last weekend due to the luck of one high roller. For the year, the EBITDA will be near $40 million. Before you start thinking that is a huge sum of money, realize that the property just sold last year for amost $500 million. I don't know what a punter is but your characterization of the casino industry is completely off. It is true that the casino wants the patron to lose, but they also want the patron to feel like a king while they do it. That is a stark contrast from the paid humiliation associated with the Jerry Springer show. None of this however changes the fact that I think Springer is a despicable human being with such low character that his political views are essentially worthless IMO. You a free to disagree of course!
Couple of points 1 The casino business is an entertainment business This is exactly what I said it was "both will try there best to entertain and keep that target audience coming back for more, both are in the entertainment buisiness are they not?" 2 There is no element of chance in the long run, the house edge will always prevail This is exactly what I said yet you said I did not know what I was talking about when I said nothing was left to chance? Now you made a big thing about the casino loosing a fairly large sum but as I asked how did they fair over the year and you admit they made a nice profit. Were exactly have I attacked your industry? you accuse me of making light! exactly how have I done that? you say my characterization is way off! again how when I said exactly what you yourself have just said? Just between us My uncle managed a casino for many years so I do have some knowlage of its workings, and my father was a bookies runner for a number of years in his youth and was also a rather good poker player, I have personaly woked for a racing bookmaker at a number of racecourses over here now you can try to dress it up in fancy words but in reality it prays on a human weakness Ie Gambling, how many branches of Gamblers annonymus are there in the US? you call it a adult fantasy I said it was all bright lights Everything about a casino is done with one aim to draw people in with no regard to there finacial circumstances (Do you do a credit check on everyone who walks in, of course you dont, they are adults after all) Now why do I think you are angry well that is simple you attacked for no reason it is fairly obviouse that you never took the time to read what I said otherwise you woudnt have contradicted yourself now. A punter is a British expression for a customer, to take a punt (place a bet) Can I ask if you have ever actualy met Mr Springer or are you simply basing your dislike on a tv persona? you still havn't given me a single example of anyone that HE has humiliated on tv yet One more for David, why do you assume that I am English
You accuse me of not reading your posts and then go on to ignore everything I say. Agreeing with you on certain points is not a contradicting myself. I never disputed that the casino industry is entertainment. I never disputed that the house edge will win in the long run. I have made enough posts on this forum that you should know when I am angry. At no point during our discussion was I angry. I disagree with your characterization of casinos preying on human weakness and that casino customers have gambling problems. Those people represent an incredibly small percentage of the customers who patronize casinos, and if your uncle managed a casino, then you should already know that. An overwhelming majority of casino patrons know it is entertainment and gamble within their means. I have never met Jerry Springer and don't need to. His behavior during the show is irrelevant. It is his decision to expoit and humiliated his guests that I base my opinion of his character on. I will not give you specific examples. What I will say is that on every single show, at least one (usually more) of his guests are completely humiliated. Dispute that!
This from post number 17 Furthermore, you don't have a damn clue as to what you are talking about. "Nothing is left to chance about how they work" That is your quote. Guess what! My casino actually lost money last weekend. A high roller cleaned our clock. I guess we intended that to happen huh? Now that is what you said, or am I miss quoting your exact words??? then you go on to say in post 27 The casino business is an entertainment business. The casinos are designed to provide adults with a fantasy playground of sorts. There is no element of chance in the long run, the house edge will always prevail. Now sir tell me that is not a direct contradiction of your earlier post? As for me using google of course I did as Amarican casinos opperate somewhat differently to European specialy when it comes to Roulette and the rules (working in a Casino I would have thought that you would have known that but if you are unsure of that major differences I would be happy to tell you) You cant actualy show that Mr Springer has ever Humilited a single guest on his show now can you therfore you go all self rightiouse LOL and condem someone without any logical reason Ah well lets just let it lie as I doubt you have the courage to admit it when you are wrong LOL
I am not wrong. If you don't think the the Jerry Springer show humiliates it's own guests, then you are crazy. My other comments are not a contradiction. While the casino will win in the long run, in the short term, a bad hold percentage can easily get you fired from your job. Quarterly projections must be met and the corporate entities don't want to hear excuses about hold percentage. It all depends on perspective. Again, it is not a contradiction to clarify that the casinos hold and insurmountable house edge in the long run but are exposed to risk in the short term. The guy beat us for $900K. He was not a regular customer. What if we can't get him to return and get the opportunity to have the house edge take over. Wouldn't you call that short term risk? So I make a little jab about you using google to obtain house edge percentages. How does that it any way imply that I don't know there are variations in casino operations from place to place. Vegas rules are completely different from Atlantic City, and both are different from the casinos in Europe. Who cares! It seems that you just want to argue with me, even when I agree with you. This thread is very much reminding me of your ridiculous behavior in the BP thread. My point is that Jerry Springer is a clown with very low character and I think his political opinion is worthless. I am not going to change my mind and I am not going to ever think that the casinos exploit their customers the way Springer exploits his guests. But feel free to continue this ridiculous discussion if you want for your own personal amusement.
For me, the safetest game in any casino is poker....I do not play the house, only the other players. I know in advance the house cut. I have become quite good at it and meak out a meager " mad money " allowance each month playing several nights a week. If an adult chooses to gamble, so be it. If an adult chooses to make a few bucks humiliating themselves on Jerry Springer, so be it. Neither is a disgrace and neither is illegal. I don't see a problem with either of them. Adults make choices......last I looked, minors are not allowed on Jerry Springer or in a casino. As for Springer, I just change the channel
So let me get this right you directly contradict what you said, and I am the crazy one LOL As for having a jab I simply offerd to educate you on the difference LOL and I love the way you get all defensive when you cant come up with a logical response LOL so we are now back to the nit picking LOL You can try shifting it on to me as much as you like, I simply used your own words yet again to prove a point and you dont like it So lets wait now for the next try at making it all my fault LOL
Quite agree Jack, I have nothing against gambling, dont do it myself but that is my choice, the same way I woudnt ever go near the Springer show LOL
I explained your contrived contradiction. I never called you crazy. You didn't educate me or anyone else. I am not defensive, upset, or emotional about anything in this thread, much less nitpicking. Stop lying, be a man, and grow up!
LOL My contrived!! Your words Sir not mine, you just dont have the honesty to admit you have contradicted yourself, but it is there for anyone to see Would you like me to re quote you just in case you sort of missed it LOL Also I realy dont need to grow up nor am I a liar and to top it off I am quite possibly more of a man than you will ever be, I at least am quite willing to admit when I am wrong unlike you LOL Now be so kind as to explain the difference between these 2 statements This from post number 17 (These are your words ) Furthermore, you don't have a damn clue as to what you are talking about. "Nothing is left to chance about how they work" (My words) That is your quote. There is no element of chance in the long run, the house edge will always prevail (Your words). Now tell me how I lied? and what the differnce is? Tell me that YOU did not say that I did not know what I was talking about LOL Tell me that the highlighted parts are not the same LOL You realy do make a fool of yourself dont you ( then you are crazy. Your words to me which you now say you never said )
