2.4 TRILLION went "missing" before 911's black ops charade announced by Rumsfeld and Crooksfeld on September 10th, 2001. That's 2,000,000,000,000.00 with another 400,000,000.00 thrown in for good measure. That's 2 million million and 400 million more. 2 million dollars times 2 million dollars with another 400 million dollar tip for the criminals who appropriated it. I'm glad you're concerned about where the money goes however. Bravo.
Hey tom, I gotta hand it to you...so far you have been the only lib with enough gumption to wade into this thread (can't say the same about Dr moen or clembo). So, while you're here, how about giving us your thoughts regarding the facts presented in the OP?
Hey Spin Doctor, When you say 2.4 trillion dollars went missing, do you mean that the DOD spent 2.4 trillion dollars more than they were allocated in the budget during a specific time period? Or does it mean that the funds were already approved by the appropriations committee and that the DOD simply could not account for how they spent the money? My money is on scenario number two. And as reprehensible as it is that members of the DOD are funding secret, possibly illegal government defense programs, along with possible embezzelment and corruption, it is not as bad as you make it out to be because the spending of the funds was approved by the members of the government. In fact, the DOD is part of the government. You are famous for this quote "Government is the only way to fix anything". Yet it is the government who was responsible for the 2.4 trillion dollar accounting error that you are now whining about. And before you blame the republicans, I should remind you that democrats are always involved in the budget process. It seems to me that the moral of this story is that we can't trust either republicans or democrats to spend our money responsibly. The only solution is to elect people who are committed to fiscal responsibility within our government. I think you will see exactly that happen in less than 60 days.
Tom, you need to go back to math school. 2.4 "TRILLION" is not "2,000,000,000,000.00 with another 400,000,000.00" nor is it "2 million million and 400 million more". And, just to compound your mistakes, had you been able to understand your link, the number stated was 2.3 trillion rather than 2.4.
Supposedly, it was 25% of the DOD budget that was "unaccounted for". With an annual budget of about $250,000,000,000 to $500,000,000,000 (depending on your source and inclusions), it would have taken between 20 and 40 years to accumulate that much money "wasted". Maybe that will put some perspective (Tom, anyway) to what we are talking about.
He did not comment on the thread, he simply came in and attempted to change the subject of it.........
Ok he. I think it is inappropriate, hypocritical, and plain dishonest and fraudulent (nicest words I can think of at the moment) to claim to be for reigning in government spending, to represent how terrible it is for "Omama's" spending, while at the same time to stand by (now and in the recent past) and zip the lips when Bush (yes Bush again..the republican representative...much as the right would like to distance themselves from him....he WAS their guy....the best they had to present....the RNC's best presentation to the American people.) spent more than (how many?) President's COMBINED. Also....accept bailouts for their Wall street brothers, run up the highest deficit (from a democratic surplus...like it or not...a surplus), and on and on and now BEG for continued tax relief instituted by Bushie for the people that need them the least, with blatently false propaganda claiming that "your taxes are goin to go up" to the electorate. It's a friggin sick joke. The very wealthy always look to dump their excessive greed ventures on the 9 out of 10 of every working citizen. There a comment Mr.top tier recipient. One thousand times a billion. I stand corrected. Sure glad it wasn't as much as I thought, oh righteous republican follower. Now we're supposed to put those nitwit criminal greedsters back into power? Like I said...what a friggin joke.
So, tomc, what do you think of THE FACTS laid out in the original post? Kinda makes you & the other libs here (where are clembo & dr moen anyway?) look, what, hypocritical? Disingenious? Truth benders?
Consistancy, principles, beliefs I hated W's spending so much I left the Republican party and registered Independant. I have a pretty good reason and a right to criticise BO's spending plan. I take responsibility for W, so therefore you can stop blaming him now Mr Moen.......
See, when FACTS are presented and words such as "principles" & "beliefs" are used, the libs scurry away like cockroaches.
Republicans can do math? Oh yeah...they hire somebody to do it for them with their immorally obtained mega wealth.
