I do find it rather strange that no one has commented on 2 quite important events that have occured during the past week concerning Iraq and Afghanistan! Lets start with Afghanistan, the Dutch have decided not to continue with there precence in the country thats the withdrawl of 2000 troops amd it was all due to internal pressures within the Dutch Parliment. How I wonder will the shortfall be made up? Now Iraq President Obama has announced that Combat troops will be out of the country by the end of August but there will still be 50,000 US personel stationed there LOL On a much sadder note the price has been to date 3,400 US personel dead
What if we had never gone into Iraq? Let see, Saddam would still be butching his own people, I can live with that. I would prefer that he didn't do it but he wasn't the only butcher on the planet either. Iran would still be scared of their neighbor. I can live with that too. We'd still have thousands of living US service personnel. I and they can certainly live with that. We wouldn't be spending trillions in the Middle East and propping up installed governments for no apparent reason. Remember, "When they stand up, we'll stand down"? Are they standing yet? We don't have a war, we have an occupation. This Bush War was and is a misadventure just as it's critics predicted. Surprise, surprise!
